A new outpatient therapy clinic serving children on the autism spectrum could soon open in downtown Concord.
The Concord Planning Commission is scheduled to consider a use permit on Wednesday, July 1, for Cortica Inc. to relocate and expand its services into an existing 8,131-square-foot office suite at 1485 Civic Court, Suite 1100.
According to city staff, Cortica currently operates at 1320 Willow Pass Road and plans to move to the larger location to offer additional services, including applied behavior analysis (ABA), occupational therapy and speech therapy. Existing services such as diagnostic assessments, neurology, physical therapy, music therapy and family counseling would also continue at the new site.
The clinic would operate by appointment only from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. No overnight stays or emergency services are planned. The facility is expected to employ between 17 and 21 staff members, including licensed healthcare professionals.
City planners say the project requires only interior tenant improvements, with no exterior building or site changes proposed. The existing office building provides sufficient parking, and staff determined the clinic would be compatible with surrounding office uses without creating significant traffic, noise or other impacts.
Planning staff is recommending the commission approve the use permit during its meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Concord City Hall.
Finally one thing i agree with finally some money being used for its meaning although there might be a small bit of fraud (when isn’t there)but i’m actually glad to see some good news
Its great to see so many resources for those kids with autism. Makes their life little bit easier.
Are the 17- 21 staff members current employees? or are they new hires? …. new hires? already a constrained budget – so put it to the voters of Concord if that’s the case
