Walnut Creek’s Design Review Commission will meet Wednesday to take its first public look at a sweeping update to the city’s sign ordinance, a proposal that could reshape how businesses and property owners display signs throughout the city.
The proposed overhaul is intended to modernize Walnut Creek’s sign regulations by creating more flexible standards while preserving the city’s visual character. City planners say the update will better address current sign trends, support local businesses, and establish a clearer vision for signage citywide.
Wednesday’s meeting is a study session, meaning no final decisions will be made. Instead, commissioners will review the draft ordinance, discuss major changes from the current rules, and provide feedback before the proposal moves to the Planning Commission and ultimately the City Council for final consideration.
The Design Review Commission meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, at Walnut Creek City Hall.
