Drivers traveling on Clayton Road near Matheson may notice a new addition aimed at slowing traffic. A new electronic speed feedback sign has been installed near Hunan Restaurant. The sign displays a driver’s current speed alongside the posted 40 mph speed limit, providing an instant reminder to slow down if they’re traveling too fast. Speed feedback signs are designed to encourage voluntary compliance with speed limits and are commonly used in areas where speeding has been a concern. Unlike radar enforcement, the signs do not issue tickets, they simply alert drivers to how fast they’re going.
QUESTION: Do you think it will help with speeding?
Is it for people who don’t know that there is a speedometer in their vehicle? Or maybe, some new vehicle don’t have speedometers?
What they should put up is a sign that shows if you are speeding, and how much the traffic ticket will be that will soon arrive in your mail.
For example: ‘Your speed is 45 mph in a school zone. Your fine is: $898.79’.

The City of Concord is already planning on installing speed cameras when the current pilot program in the cities of Glendale, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Oakland, San Francisco, and San Jose ends in January of 2032. This “program” has absolutely nothing to do with safety, it’s nothing but a money grab revenue source for cash strapped cities who refuse to live within their means. The first month of this “program” in the City of Oakland issued 82,000 citations. Expanding government and government surveillance of the population should never be the answer!!!
Nothing but a money grab? That’s the usual tired weak and shallow minded argument given routinely by those who think that they don’t have to abide by traffic laws.
Extreme measures are the only thing the self centered dangerous drivers will be able to understand.

Extreme measures aren’t being put in place with this money grab government scam, as the vehicle owner is the one cited, not the individual engaged in traveling or driving, and no points are put on the license of the traveler or driver, because it’s nothing but a government money grab masquerading as a “traffic safety program!!!”

The town of Hudson, Colorado, with a population of 1,600, had one speed camera issue 31,000+ citations in a single month. The Hudson Town Council recently voted to revoke all of those citations and refund any paid citations because the placement of this speed camera was nothing but a corrupt money grab by the town, and they got caught!!!
Maybe they can use the revenue generated from these tickets to fund the “Honor Dorms” at San Quentin, make sure the dayroom is appropriately outfitted for maximum comfort for that “model” prisoner.
These are a waste of money! It only flashes and let’s you know that you are speeding and nothing more, how is this good use of tax dollar? Hire more police and patrole regularly like they used to. It was very effective and the honor systemn has yielded expected results. There would be less accidents and traffic would move more efficiently like it used to. The state has to go back to actual standards when issuing licenses. Get the people off the road that don’t belong there.

According to studies, they are not a waste of money. Multiple studies by Highway Admin, NHTSA, Dept of transportation show that these dynamic speed feedback signs get people to slow down, with people traveling well over the speed limit slowing down the most.
Personally I am more likely to think about my speed when I see these signs.

The Concord Police Department already eats up close to 60% of the City of Concord budget because the Concord City Councilmembers want the endorsement of the corrupt Concord Police Association when running for reelection and/or higher office, so, how much more of the City of Concord budget do you want to give to the Concord Police Department and how do you expect the city to pay for it, when they’re already running a $3 million budget deficit? Expanding government and the powers of government should never be the answer!!!
