I lived in Marysville in 1976 and they painted the cannon in front of the courthouse (?) red, white and blue – it was army olive green before. I wonder if they painted it again for 250.

“I stopped at the this gas station to grab a drink and as I was walking in, I noticed a Cop watching a girl who was smoking a cigarette while pumping her gas. I saw her and thought, this girl is stupid, crazy, or both, especially with the police standing RIGHT there! I just shook my head and went inside, as I was paying for my beer, I heard someone screaming! I’m talkin’ violent painful screams! I looked outside and I saw that this girl’s arm was on fire!! She was swinging her arm, running around going nuts!! When I got outside, the Cop had the girl on the ground and he was putting the fire out!! Then he put handcuffs on her and threw her in the squad car.. I was thinking, arrested? Shouldn’t he call for an ambulance, not put her into a squad car?? I asked him what was he arresting her for…Cop looked at me, dead serious, and said, “WAVING A FIRE ARM”!

Great! Maybe it’s my own cautious mindset that assumes kids wait until they get a job to apply for a SSN so it doesn’t get compromised.
I totally agree with you, Kentucky Derby. My son was issued an SS number when he was born and I hated it. Schools and doctors’ offices always asked for it, and I never provided it. I told them he didn’t have a job and they weren’t getting it, ever.
