Good. Running red lights kills people. When drivers know they will get a massive fine for running lights and a camera will catch them doing it, they are incented not to run them.

Red light cameras have been found to be the cause of more accidents, not fewer accidents. The fines for running a red light in California aren’t “massive.” Red light and speed cameras in California don’t automatically “fine” the individual engaged in the act of traveling or driving, they “fine” the registered owner, whether that person was the individual engaged in traveling or driving or not. If laws and cameras actually worked, then we wouldn’t have any crime!!! Red light, speed, and Flock cameras are being used as nothing but a revenue source and to keep the population under constant surveillance!!!

Then feel free to not believe it, just keep believing the police and the government telling you that cameras are keeping you safe, which the police and government aren’t obligated to do.
If you search long enough online you could probably find that the cameras caused the great Chicago fire, too.
The O’Leary’s didn’t have a camera system in their barn, but you should feel free to keep believing that a camera system was the cause of the Great Chicago Fire. This explains so much about your pro-big government surveillance police state ideology that you’re advocating for to keep you safe from your fellow pro-freedom and pro-liberty Americans.

You seem to need to stop listening to those pro-big government voices who are promising you safety with these surveillance camera networks.
No one likes the feeling of being “spied on” but…. it seems to me these cameras are being used- and are successful- in locating criminals… not just red light jumpers. Average people don’t run red lights. But the asshats with dirty guns and drugs in the cars seem to like to do that. So… I’m OK with cameras.
I’m certainly not a fan of red-light runners, and I think cameras that catch and ticket them are a good idea.
My concern is the soft-hearted judges who let people off who should be ticketed or jailed.
I’ve never had much use for bleeding hearts, especially when they are judges.

The registered owner is the person cited in California, not necessarily the individual engaged in the act of traveling or driving.
As mentioned earlier, red-light cameras cause more wrecks than they prevent, and that is one reason that they are illegal in Tennessee.
Nevertheless, I remember Len Tillem talking about this issue on KGO, many years age. If you receive a ticket and you weren’t driving, you only have to show that you weren’t the driver. It is not your duty to inform the police who the actual driver was.

Red light cameras, speed cameras, and especially Flock cameras are a bad thing!!!!! Red light cameras and speed cameras aren’t used for “safety,” they’re used as nothing but a source of revenue. Red light cameras have also been found to cause more accidents, not result in fewer accidents.
Speeding and killing innocent people is a worse thing.
p.s There’s a perfect way to not get a speeding/red light camara citation: Don’t speed and don’t run red lights.

You seem to be the only one having trouble understanding what I’ve posted.
Every time this question comes up, my answer will be the same…BAD!
Red light cameras are nothing more than a money-maker for the local
municipality and the company that owns and maintains the cameras.
Their unfair, impractical, and a hazard. They are unfair because the ticket
is typically issued to the vehicle’s owner, not the driver, and unlike a live
police officer, a camera cannot evaluate road conditions, weather, or
emergencies. They are impractical and hazardous because they do not
address the root causes of reckless driving, and they can inadvertently
trigger a rear end collision when a driver suddenly brakes for a red light
and the vehicle behind them cannot stop in time. A ticked issued by a red
light camera, can also be burdensome and time-consuming to an innocent
person in order to dispute it in court. People that believe local officials, and
the propaganda about how they can reduce traffic accidents are being duped
and have been indoctrinated and programmed into thinking a certain way.
They will oftentimes rush to a decision without taking the time to evaluate
the context which can lead to an error in judgment.
Don’t let government control your thinking.
When government controls the way we think, there will be a loss of focus,
and reasoning capabilities, leading to a loss of independent reasoning.
Bad idea …. for all the reasons everybody else already stated … it’s just a money scam and more oversight control – no!
If that’s true, then all fines for traffic citations are a ‘money scam’.

They’ll always be someone trying to, trick the “system”
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: no cameras, just cops. They’ve got money to hand out raises, they can hire a few more cops to write tickets.
Having someone running a red light who borrowed your car is the least of your worrys. Whispers are that laws maybe enacted that only registered owners may drive cars registered to them. If you lend your car to someone who runs a red light etc you will be fined for allowing that person to drive your car. So pay that red light infraction and keep quiet. One ticket is better than two.
At this point, I probably shouldn’t be surprised, yet, I’m still always surprised at how many freedom hating Claycordians are supportive of these big government surveillance police state programs that these red light camera, speed camera, and Flock camera networks are a part of, all because someone in government has promised safety with these camera networks, perceived safety, not actual safety. If cameras and laws actually worked, then crime wouldn’t exist. It just amazes me at how many people hate our freedoms and rights, and are so willing to diminish and eliminate our rights in favor of this big government surveillance police state.
