Kobe Japan Steakhouse at 1918 Oak Park Blvd in Pleasant Hill has reopened after being temporarily shut down by Contra Costa County health inspectors following the discovery of a cockroach infestation during an inspection. Inspectors ordered the restaurant closed on July 7 after finding numerous live cockroaches throughout the facility, including in food preparation areas, the sushi station, teppanyaki kitchen, behind the bar, and near the beer keg dispensers. Dead cockroaches were also observed during the inspection, prompting the county to issue a red placard and immediately suspend the restaurant’s health permit.
According to the inspection report, the restaurant’s operator contacted a licensed pest control company the same day and was instructed to seal cracks and crevices throughout the building to eliminate hiding places for the insects. Health officials also required the facility to be cleaned and sanitized, contaminated food discarded, and the infestation eradicated before it could reopen. The restaurant has since passed a follow-up inspection and has been authorized by Contra Costa Environmental Health to resume operations.
….. these places need to just pay attention to the basics …. what do they need to do – hire somebody say part time that does noting but come in and clean?
