A 59-year-old Rio Vista woman was found dead Friday morning in Contra Costa County’s West County Detention Facility in Richmond, the Sheriff’s Office said. A deputy was conducting safety checks about 12:24 a.m. when she saw the woman with a ligature around her neck, the Sheriff’s Office said. The woman was identified as Robi Lynn Perley, who was being held on a warrant for driving under the influence and probation violation, the Sheriff’s Office said. Perley was taken into custody Thursday by the Antioch Police Department. She was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility at about 1:30 p.m.. The woman’s death will be investigated by the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office and the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division at 925-313-2600 or tips@so.cccounty.us. Anonymous messages can be left at 866-846-3592.

You must be a very nice, calm person.

I can’t be the only one who didn’t know what “ligature” meant.
I’m going to work that word into every conversation I have out there in the world today and see how many people say “Huh?…. what’s a ligature?”

Same here. Looks like strangling rather than hanging.

Precisely…. unless you do a duo, doing it for fun… (like Keith carridine)🤭

Hmmm, Sheriff. That’s #3 in 3 months….. maybe someone should suggest a night-watch duty.

No Excuses,
.
This is one of many problems within the Contra Costa County Sheriff-Coroner Department. Sheriff-Coroner David Livingston is a joke who refuses to control his subordinates. Voters should never have voted him into office after the horrible job he did as Concord Chief of Police, but it’s not as though voters were given a good choice of candidates to choose from.

Suicide is far more common than homicide in U.S. jails, but it could be either. I’m thinking suicide.

I don’t know if saying I know what ligature means, makes me smarter and wiser than you, but I know what ligature means. I’m also going to work it into my conversations today just because I’m petty.
