Hundreds of goats have returned to the creek along Viking Drive near Valley View Middle School for their annual vegetation-clearing project. The herd arrived Monday aboard two trailers and quickly got to work grazing on dry grass, weeds and brush along the creek banks. Using goats instead of machinery helps reduce fire hazards while reaching steep terrain that can be difficult for crews to access. The annual effort has become a familiar sight for nearby residents, who often stop to watch the four-legged landscaping crew in action.

Well, that is typical of California government.
They were previously at Markham Park and Newhall Park. They do an incredible job of clearing the brush and weeds, and are a lot of fun to watch. The dogs are great, too!
There are so many places in Concord that could use the goats. My neighborhood rented goats. They were gated off from my front yard in North Concord and did a great job. Loved interacting with them.
