Thousands of PG&E customers in and near the San Francisco Bay Area could be dealing with proactive power shutoffs this week because of a forecast of hot, dry and windy weather in the region, the utility announced Tuesday. PG&E implements what it calls Public Safety Power Shutoffs to power down equipment in areas where there are weather conditions that could spark wildfires. Starting Wednesday and continuing into Thursday, PG&E officials said shutoffs are likely in 10 counties, including Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey and San Joaquin. PG&E spokesperson Tamar Sarkissian said 3,083 customers have been notified in Monterey County and 2,017 in Marin County about the potential shutoffs. There are 75 customers in Alameda County, 70 in Contra Costa County and 33 in San Joaquin County who have also been notified, Sarkissian said. According to the National Weather Service, there are elevated fire weather concerns through Thursday in the Bay Area because of above-normal temperatures, low humidity levels and gusty winds. We saw the writing on the bathroom walls yrs ago, they can shut off whatever they want, and it won’t affect us.

Not if you use any entity that uses power…Grocery store, Restaurant, Fuel station, Kids in school…
I highly doubt that they will all be without power at the same time.
I preferred to not deal with gas so I got solar instead. So PG&E pays me instead. But everyone should read the articles, which now are many, about the history of PG&E which started in the mid 1800s in San Francisco to supply gas to the city. But in the 1800 grifters worked their way west to take over cities and towns often out-of-reach of the law.

Growing up in CA can’t recall power shut offs due to wind or fire danger . . . . .
It is because of the lawers.
When PG&E is found at fault for a wildfire, they are sued and pay through the nose. Shutting off the power eliminates their culpability.
No deep pockets to sue if there is no electricity.
YUP, all the more reason to END it’s, for profit status and make it a public utility.
Too much emphasis on profit can create a mindset of run it ’til it burns.
