UPDATE: Firefighters Battling Two-Alarm Vegetation Fire In Benicia

A fire Wednesday afternoon in the area of Interstate Highway 680 and an industrial park in Benicia prompted the evacuation of several buildings, according to fire officials. The four-alarm blaze was reported shortly before 1:30 p.m. as a vegetation fire along the northbound side of I-680 near Benicia Industrial Park, said Benicia Fire Department spokesperson Della Olm. The fire’s forward progress was halted just after 3:30 p.m. The 3,000-acre industrial area has numerous warehouses and businesses. Businesses in the 4000 to 6000 blocks of Industrial Way have been evacuated due to the fire threat, Olm said. No injuries have been reported. The northbound on-ramp to I-680 from Industrial Way has been closed off, as well as a lane of northbound Highway 680.
