PG&E has issued a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) warning for Wednesday and Thursday, July 15 & 16, due to forecast high winds and dry conditions that increase the risk of wildfire. The utility said portions of several California counties could be affected, including Contra Costa, Alameda, Marin, Merced, Monterey, Fresno, San Benito, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara counties. Public Safety Power Shutoffs are used during periods of extreme fire weather to reduce the risk of power lines sparking wildfires. Customers are encouraged to prepare now by charging electronic devices, gathering flashlights and batteries, and making plans for any medical or electrical needs.
Residents can sign up for PG&E alerts to receive notifications if their address is included in a planned outage.
