BART recorded its highest monthly ridership since the COVID-19 pandemic in June, according to transit officials. Ridership increased 18.6% compared to June 2025, making it the strongest month since passenger numbers dropped during the pandemic. The agency also reported a 13% increase in ridership over the previous fiscal year. BART said ridership has recovered to about 56% of 2019 levels, with more people using the system for sporting events, concerts, festivals and other activities in addition to commuting. The agency cited events such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup and San Francisco Pride as contributing factors. June also set several post-pandemic records, including the highest single-day ridership, the highest average weekday and weekend ridership, and record passenger totals at several stations.
As ridership continues to increase, BART has restored 10-car trains during peak commute periods to provide additional capacity. Despite the increase in passengers, BART said fare revenue remains below the level needed to fully support operations. With pandemic-related federal relief funding exhausted, the agency continues to face a budget shortfall unless additional funding is secured. One potential source of funding is the Connect Bay Area Act, a regional ballot measure that would establish a sales tax in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. If approved by voters in November, the measure would provide additional funding for public transit agencies, including BART.

Try as they might but I’m still voting NO on any tax dollars going to this cesspool that imports criminals. Ridership peaked in the 90’s as far as work commute goes and the carpool lanes were a bust! Now it’s pay to play scam CA is the most trash state in the union!
Because more workers were ordered “back to office” and gas more expensive to drive to work. Not because BART is all of a sudden “popular”. I have mentioned that that the Bay Area would have been better off with light rail (there are even YT videos of the days when the Bay Area had it). I saw a video the other day of my older hang out, Seattle that has light rail.

I’m calling B.S. the original Concord parking lot is always darn near empty, even mid week. You never used to be able to find a parking spot either in the lot or parking structure after 7:00 AM unless you got very lucky. A lot of people do not feel safe riding the “F.A.R.T” train due to the lack of security and dirtbags loitering about the parking lot, tickt purchasing area, and platforms.
I rode BART for over 30 years daily working in the City and never had a problem.
Now I won’t even think about leaving my truck in their parking lot for the day.
If I “have” to ride the train I carry a legal weapon. If BART refuses to provide their ridership like they do, I will provide my own security, to protect my family on the train.
We only ride the train to go to ball games, and concerts these days. And we Uber it to the station due to vehicles being broken into or being stolen.
BART need to clamp down on their lazy employees that work the stations. They also need to pressure wash the stations and trains much more often than they currently do. God forbid you need to use their restrooms, which are a complete biohazard. I’m a dude that worked on extremely large construction sites that had cleaner bluerooms, than BART restrooms.
Get your $#!T together BART, or you will never see the ridership that you once had, it’s your own damn falt if you fail, between your lazy employees with smug attitudes, which are a trickle down from management, and extremely unsafe parking lots, and disgusting properties.
Win us back or don’t, it’s your choice, but stay yhe hell out of my pockets doing so. This is on you BART, you got us here, you fix it. Open your books and hire professionals to restructure your business or fail like you’ve been doing, it’s your call, wake up BART.
