The dead grass at Memory Gardens Cemetery on Arnold Industrial Way in Concord has caught the attention of many visitors in recent weeks, but the brown lawns are the result of a temporary construction project rather than neglect. According to cemetery staff, watering has been suspended in portions of the cemetery as part of an ongoing headstone revealing project. Allowing the ground to dry and harden helps workers properly set and stabilize headstones while they are being uncovered and repositioned. Softer, saturated soil could allow the markers to shift before they are securely in place. Over time, soil movement, grass growth, and routine maintenance can cause flat grave markers to become covered or sink below the surface. The project is designed to reveal those markers, restore their visibility, and ensure they remain level and secure for years to come. Once the project is complete, normal irrigation will resume, and the grass is expected to recover. While the dry, brown appearance may be surprising to visitors, cemetery staff say it is a temporary part of improving and preserving the cemetery.

I’m still bitter at them for firing Digger. Corporate slum lord cemetery. Although I appreciate the transparency.
This is completely false. I spoke to the manager at this cemetery about 3yrs ago and even got in contact with someone who was above her. To be fair to the gentleman who was in charge over the manager. Eddie said he would try to make changes but he was in Fresno at least that’s what i recalled. The guy who used to be in charged of maintenance crew was “Digger” who owns Diggers dinner he was only there to collect to check along with the manager and few other employees. Long story short digger got the book few months later. This manager should get fired immediately. All she does is keep the front of the cemetery looking nice.
Take it from my family and I please save yourself from this HELL and go any other place but here. I wish I would have known this prior. It breaks my heart to write this message and hope I spell my words correctly along with having proper grammar. But I’m shaking while writing this up
These are new Professional Cemetery Managers from back East who are buying up “neglected” cemeteries around the Country. They talk a good story. Then they sell supposedly “available” acres to Muslims. Muslims who do not allow burial next to “Infidels.”

Why on earth did the headstones get to this situation? I don’t believe this story for a hot second.
If they do the releveling of the headstones while the ground is dry and hard in the middle of summer, won’t the headstones begin to sink again once the cemetery starts watering again and when the winter rains come?
Did you check out the inter-active map I posted, above? I have no doubt there is a need for maintenance and repair. Prior owners were under the gun for gross neglect of the grounds–and the cemetery was bought by Anthem, a huge death management Corp. (yes, they refer to themselves as ‘death managers’ .
Anthem then sold to Broylman Memorial Group, this new, really new, death management company (who, by the way, plan to add a crematorium in that North Concord area)….
What I want to know is EXACTLY where did the new owners find space to sell even a tiny 5 acres for Muslim burials? Scroll around, zoom every inch of that cemetery. WHERE will they build, where did they find land to sell? WHY are there empty coffins and headstones piled up and being buried in the mound-berms being built ALL around the perimeter? How many graves do you have to dig up and dispose of to gain five more acres to RE-SELL?
Burial in perpetuity? Perpetual Care? THAT is what people paid for.
When Walmart wanted to build a store in that area the previous owners of the property had wanted to expand the cemetery onto their unused property because of all of the traffic that Walmart was expected to bring into the area.

I don’t think those are coffins, but more than likely they’re the cement vaults that the State of California requires caskets to be placed in to avoid deterioration and contamination.

Perpetual Care Trust Fund control should never be held by private party or owner. Did you scroll around the cemetery in that birdseye view? The current owner says There’s about 36 acres and 6 acres were unused.” Which made them available for him to sell. It’s a 45+ acre cemetery and the only square foot of it not already being used is the entrance driveway. I’m pretty convinced they are removing remains and re-selling plots.
