Former KFC/A&W On Clayton Road In Concord Being Converted Into 7 Brew Coffee

Remodeling is already underway at the former KFC/A&W restaurant on Clayton Road in Concord, where national coffee chain 7 Brew Coffee is preparing to open its first California location. According to plans submitted to the City of Concord, the existing 3,664-square-foot restaurant is being converted into a drive-through-only coffee stand. There will be no indoor seating or dining area. Instead, the former dining room will be used for employee training and storage. The project includes a new dual-lane drive-through entrance along the west side of the property, exterior renovations, updated signage, and minor landscaping improvements. Founded in Arkansas, 7 Brew Coffee has expanded rapidly across 35 states. The chain offers customizable hot and iced coffees, teas, energy drinks, lemonades, smoothies, shakes, and flavored sparkling waters, along with a limited selection of packaged food items.

Plans indicate the Concord location will employ between 10 and 15 workers per shift, with additional employees scheduled during busy periods. The site may also serve as a regional training location for future Northern California stores, with space for up to five trainees at a time. To speed up service, 7 Brew uses employees known as “runners” or “line busters” who walk between vehicles taking orders and processing payments with handheld devices before customers reach the pickup window. The proposed operating hours are 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. The new coffee stand will face stiff competition. A Dutch Bros Coffee is located just two buildings to the east.

There you go. Another specialty coffee place to spend your hard earned dollars on while I do press coffee at home. Brew on! 😎

At least it’s not another kabob shop!

If this is on the south side of the street, it would make it easier to get coffee on my way home.

Hey! another coffee place destine for bankruptcy! “Love your hair, hope you win!”

@Cathy
News to me too. I recently learned that a KFC in Pittsburg closed, but I didn’t know anything about this one on Clayton Road. Sorry to see this has happened to this old business.

Coffee row. When will this end?

Kentucky Derby,
.
This’ll end when the public stops buying. I wouldn’t classify 7 Brew as another coffee shop, but another favored drink business.

Talk about a way over saturated market along Clayton….. they’ll put each other out of business …. who really needs another overpriced “coffee house”?

domo,

It’s unlikely that they’ll put each other out of business, at best one could be driven to closure due to oversaturation, but still unlikely. We shouldn’t look at these as “coffee houses,” but as “flavored beverage” businesses.

I was using the term loosely as they call themself 7 Brew Coffee

I don’t know what the city was thinking when they allowed Dutch Bros. It makes entering/exiting or parking at Taco Bell impossible somedays. Everybody is going to Dutch Bros. I’ve just stopped frequenting Taco Bell. There’s supposed to be childcare behind Dutch Bros. It’s going to make entering/exiting/parking even harder. Dutch Bros really should have been someone else to handle that kind of traffic.

I had no idea KFC had closed! When did that happen? And I thought they were putting another Starbuck’s in the front of the Dollar Tree store parking lot right there on Clayton? What happened to that? There was some initial excavation done there. As long as people keep shelling out $5+ for coffee, the stores will keep sprouting up. Me? I gave up coffee a few years ago due to the high price and don’t really miss it.

Don’t forgot about the Starbucks that’s going to be on the corner of Bailey and Clayton.

Duch Bros
Rosies
Starbucks
7 Brew

All within feet of each other.
