The Concord Plaza Hotel near Buchanan Field Airport in Concord is no more. As we previously reported, the hotel was purchased by Marriott, and is now a Courtyard by Marriott/Fairfield by Marriott. The signs just went up today. Nice change. Courtyard by Marriott is designed as a more upscale hotel, offering modern rooms, stylish common areas, and amenities like an on-site restaurant, bar, and flexible workspaces. It caters primarily to business travelers and guests looking for a more full-service experience. Fairfield by Marriott is a more budget-friendly brand focused on comfort, convenience, and value. While the rooms are typically simpler than those at Courtyard, guests receive complimentary breakfast, making it a popular choice for families, road trippers, and travelers looking to save money without sacrificing quality.
Other than paint – what did they do to make it “upscale”? The carpet must be 40 yrs old… last I saw a room it was stale / stagnant / stunk , A/C was less than adequate… walls had no insulation between the rooms and you could hear your room neighbor like they were in your room, what was done to the “restaurant”? … I’m a little skeptical … I think it would have taken MILLIONS to make it upscale.
They spent months gutting the inside completely…

No changes just Marriott still. Still trashy location and crappy insulation where you can hear everything your neighbor is doing. No news here, just stay away. That hotel has always been crappy, need to tear it down and rebuild, my .02.
Crown was an IHG hotel, not Marriott. Marriott is a different owner/company that gutted this hotel after purchasing and has fully renovated for the last several months. It’s been closed for months
Opening in September 2026 according to the Marriott website…..
Maybe they put up a roller coaster inside…..

I’m lucky enough to be friends with the current owner of the hotel, and I’ve worked side by side with him to make sure all of the permits from the city and the county were correct and up to date. A lot of time and money was spent into upgrading the hotel, including changing everything from the flooring to the furniture to the lighting. It’s a beautiful hotel!
Did they improve the A/C? Insulation / sound proofing between the rooms? Website calls it a Bistro – is there really a restaurant there so you don’t have to go offsite? The “offsite” places they are eluding to are closing right & left…. details please.

This is great for the Concord community. It will create over 100 plus jobs. I’ve attended their job fair, and the hotel is definitely much larger than I expected. It has a nice atrium, and everything in the rooms is brand new..
