A couple weeks ago I spoke of how I had an issue with the USPS which was disappointing after many years of having a soft spot for the misaligned perception of them… well.. another huge disappointment that reinforces wat I said in that it needs a complete housecleaning to to bottom – or just eliminate it. Here’s what happened this week at the PO at Citrus & Oak Grove in WC. Wife addresses a package with postage online going to TX – asked me to take it to the PO & drop it off. 2 employees there – a male Sikh (I believe) and a female of color … female tells me very rudely, aggressively, condescendingly, that wifey used the wrong label for the box used – that it will need a label she gives me and lost the $12+ postage already affixed to the package. She was very arrogant. I don’t argue as though she probably knows what she’s talking abut despite her attitude. I take it home – tell wifey, she rewrite address label but doesn’t yet affix it to the package. She takes it back to the PO, gets the same female of color – she looks at it and says, “No that label on it is just fine – you don’t need this other label” (the one she gave me). She is intentionally jerking people around & lies with impunity. Complaints at WC main branch falls on deaf ears. Avoid the branch at Citrus & Oak Grove!
With government you need to talk back. They expect you to fold. Make them fold instead. They are our servants not the other way around.

What’s going on with our utilities? Our last PG&E was record high for the month. We hardly used our A/C and were away on vacation for 10 days!
You thought because they said they were lowering rates they meant your bill might go down? NO, Chris. You put your belief in the wrong utility. While you’re still in shock. Be sure to read the printout that was included with your bill.

PG&E wants to give those GAZZILLIONAIRE companies over $26million in BONUSES. But do you know why? BECAUSE THEY PURCHASED GAS FROM THE LOWER COST SUPPLIER AND SAVED THEIR CUSTOMERS MONEY. SAVED US LOTS OF MONEY. YEP. THAT’S WHAT THEY SAY.

It’s like those casinos that advertise “Loose Slots” and what they really mean are the machines aren’t properly secured to the floor.
Check outside, maybe somebody has tapped into your electricity. Take a
look (but do not touch) at the wire that runs between your meter and the
house and see if anything looks suspect. You can also turn off all of your
breakers, then check the meter and see if it is still running.
Another thing you can do is call PG&E and ask them to come out to check
if there is any faulty equipment, or if any electric theft is occurring on the
outside of your home. PG&E is legally responsible for preventing theft of
services and repairing or replacing any unsafe equipment that they own.
If there is a problem inside the home, or with equipment that is not owned
by PG&E, then the homeowner is responsible for the repairs. With all its faults,
one thing I can say about PG&E is that they are good at taking calls seriously,
and they will come out and investigate at no charge to their customer.
It could be anything. From not reading your meter that month, not reading the meter accurately, energy sucking appliances that need to be replaced, electricity theft, using more energy than you thought you were using. Most of us don’t nickel and dime our usage. Call PG&E and go from there.
It’s only going to get worse with Data Centers and EV charging stations hogging the GRID. I didn’t realize how much EV charging stations use……..it’s up there with a shopping mall usage. And DATA centers….they just need to do what the refinery does and generate their own or at least do something to offset their impact.
DIY Solar / Ground mount is the only way if you want to offset your bill. Look up: “Plug in / Balcony Solar”. Some States are allowing up to 1,200 watts of Solar to backfeed into the GRID without any interconnection agreement. I wouldn’t bother – just get a Modern Hybrid solar inverter that does Not allow exporting any of your excess solar back to the GRID.
Our pg&e runs about $270 a month for 1,800 sq. foot house. Roof of
almost white shingles and having house situated on lot, that advantages
flow thru of cool overnight breezes. Dish and clothes washer and drier
not used between 4 to 9 pm.

Power bricks (chargers) computers, monitors and TVs plugged into
power strips so they can be powered down when not in use, what’s
known as ‘vampire power’. Just because they aren’t on or you aren’t
charging something doesn’t mean they’re not consuming power, it adds up.
An since we don’t have pets for now, our HVAC is switched off when
we’re not home.

Have relatives who leave box fans, lights, stereos, TVs, computers on
in rooms no one is in for hours on end and will leave AC or heater settings
unchanged when they aren’t home.

They’re completely baffled as to why bill is so high. Difficult to
have sympathy when simple conservation advice is ignored.

Can buy on line a 110 Vac plug in power watt meters to monitor usage
of a device or devices plugged into a power strip. Ours is about 20 years
old. Need to check out what features have been added, might consider
buying a replacement.
