Guns, Arson And A String Of DUI Arrests Highlight Concord Crime Report

Concord police officers made dozens of arrests between July 15 and July 21, with cases ranging from weapons violations and arson to DUI arrests, domestic violence and drug-related offenses. Among the more serious arrests, a 22-year-old man was taken into custody Tuesday night on Monument Boulevard on multiple felony firearms charges, including carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a loaded firearm in public. That same night, police also arrested a 38-year-old man at Sunvalley Shopping Center on suspicion of arson involving an inhabited structure or property, as well as a 31-year-old man on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on Ygnacio Valley Road. Officers also made numerous DUI arrests throughout the week, with at least 10 people arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Several of those cases included additional charges such as driving on a suspended license, probation violations or drug possession. Drug-related arrests remained common, with suspects booked for possession of controlled substances, possession for sale, narcotics possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police also made arrests involving domestic violence, kidnapping, false imprisonment, vehicle theft, burglary, forgery, identity theft, warrants and probation violations. The Concord Police Department’s burglary report for the same period showed four felony burglaries reported during the week, including incidents at a hotel on Clayton Road, a rental storage facility on Monument Boulevard, an auto dealership on Franquette Avenue and a business on Treat Boulevard
