The City of Concord has updated the operating hours for the public parking garages at 2255 Grant St. and 2051 Salvio St. to help reduce ongoing nighttime vandalism.
🕔 Open Daily: 5:01 a.m. – 11:59 p.m.
🌙 Closed Daily: 12:00 a.m. – 5:00 a.m.
If you park downtown late at night, be sure to plan ahead.
So instead of having the area policed and laws being upheld we’ll just close it. We’ve lost our sidewalks, our parks, our public restrooms, and our safety, but what are we? just the measly tax payers with less rights than the homeless. We are losing our law-governed society because of the people we elect that do not do the will of the people.
So in other words, their plan is working.
They don’t view crime as crime, rather, they view it as a “cultural misunderstanding”.
And as long as it doesn’t affect them personally, everything is just hunky dory.
ONLY way this will work is if there is some form of motion detection and notification
system is installed.

I’m guessing that the 2055 Grant Street parking garage is the parking garage that’s on the corner of Salvio Street and Colfax Street that you enter and exit from on Salvio Street?
Haven’t checked lately… Is there still a Police Substation on the Salvio side… INSIDE the garage? Or is it no longer safe for them to even have an officer on duty?

Where are all of the residents of the Blue Oak Square Apartments, at East Street, Concord Boulevard, Port Chicago Highway, and Willow Pass Road, who’ve been parking in this garage overnight, now going to park? The nearby neighborhoods better get ready to have their streets invaded by Blue Oak Square residents looking for parking.
There’s a ton of parking in that building and none of the downtown garages are close.

Then why have residents of Blue Oak Square been parking overnight in the downtown Concord garage at Salvio Street and Colfax Street? If you think walking 1 block south and 1 block west to get to the parking garage at Salvio Street and Colfax Street isn’t close, then you’d be wrong!

The Blue Oak Square Apartment building has 182 parking spaces for 181 housing units.
I would much rather see the garages open till 1 AM so people who eat late can still use them, but there is a ton of parking downtown anyway so it probably doesn’t matter.
