DeSaulnier Introduces Bill Aimed At Reducing Wrongful Health Insurance Claim Denials

U.S. Rep. Mark DeSaulnier, D-Walnut Creek, has introduced legislation intended to strengthen consumer protections for people whose health insurance claims are denied. DeSaulnier joined Reps. Joe Courtney of Connecticut, Lucy McBath of Georgia and Summer Lee of Pennsylvania in introducing a package of four bills focused on increasing transparency, oversight and accountability for health insurers and employer-sponsored health plans.

The legislation follows a report released by Democrats on the House Committee on Education and Workforce examining health insurance claim denials and their impact on workers and families. Among the proposals is the Consumer Health Claim Assistance Act, introduced by DeSaulnier. The bill would establish a consumer assistance program within the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration to help people challenge wrongful health claim denials. It would also create a dedicated funding source for the program through an annual fee paid by certain health plans. The legislative package also includes the Health Claim Denial Transparency Act, Consumer Appeal Rights Enforcement Act, and CLINIC Assistance Act, all aimed at improving oversight of health insurance claims and strengthening consumers’ ability to appeal denied claims.

Markie once again comes down for the fraudsters and the illegals – transparency okay Mark how about you provide a list of all the illegals that are receiving taxpayer funded medical insurance and payments. How about those hospices that don’t exist but get paid. No, its more free stuff and bureaucracy from DeSaulnier. Please go away.

If this is truly his intent and follows through with it – it might actually be a good thing he’s doing for a change.

Just a bunch of worthless hot air by Mort. He can’t and won’t do a thing.

oh just shut up Mark. You’re absolutely worthless as our “representative”. There must be dozens of people this bill affects, yet you ignore the hundreds of thousands IN YOUR DISTRICT and MILLIONS across the country that have their vote stolen or diluted by allowing and encouraging voter fraud. Even the people in your own party support the SAVE act, but you can’t see past your own nose when it comes to anything Trump supports. Did I mention you’re useless to your constituents, even when they overwhelmingly want you to DO SOMETHING? You are the worst of the worst in politics, and that’s an extremely low bar. Hey, where’s your buddy Swalwell, haven’t heard a peep from him… Maybe he’s out looking for the real killer with OJ, so much for that vigorous defense of his name!
