Nothing big – CA Lottery Scratchers, Lotto, etc…. not really a win where you spend $50 to get a $10 winner 🙂
Back in my computer technician days, I had to drive to a customer site in Reno. The service call didn’t take long, but I had gotten snowed in on the Nevada side. I checked in to the MGM and got a dinner/show/room deal that included a roll of quarters. Waiting for the show, I hit a 777 jackpot on the slots worth 1,000 quarters. I paid for my room in cash and took my family out to dinner when I got home.
Once, a long time ago I entered a contest and won a Sylvania TV.
Back in the 80’s I won a Quasar color TV…. I only bought one raffle ticket.
I also won $1700 playing Keno in Reno,
I won a contest for being the most indecisive person on the planet.”
“Really? What was the prize?”
“I don’t know, I haven’t decided if I want to accept it yet.”
The first thing I won was a big doll at a carnival close to where I grew up in Denmark, I was 10-12 years old, didn’t play with doll much, but was thrilled to have won something. Then in 1980 I won $100.00 at a slot machine in Reno. I have won $100 to 125 in California lottery scratches tickets in the past 2 years, also won $60.00 in scratches and some smaller amounts. I don’t spend more than $5-8.00 a month on lottery, or less, often I win a free ticket or $10-15.00. I also won a Bruce Springsteen ticket at Shoreline in the late eighties.
I grew up in a small town in southern Illinois. When I was in high school, some organization sponsored a trip to the United Nations headquarters in New York for the student who got the top score on a test about the UN. I won, since I got the top score in the county and was thrilled that I could make such a trip. A few days later, I was told that I was too young for the trip, since I was15, not at least 16. As compensation I was included on a multiple day trip to the Illinois state capital to learn more about how the state government worked.
I won a day off from school when I was 11 or 12. The teacher wrote a bunch of letters on the blackboard and said the first person to get this right could take the next day off. He said you had to unscramble the letters, and that it was just one word. Anyway, I was the only one who solved it. Here are the letters: RUDOJOTSEWN
Years ago at East Bay Pro wrestling in Pacheco my ticket was chosen and I went up into the wrestling ring to win $50. I later bought two EBPW t shirts and two 8 x 12 photos of Kimbery Diamond the beautiful psycho Lady wrestler.
I just remembered my first prize. In high school, we wrote safety slogans for Ford, and mine was one of the chosen. I won a hand-held transistor radio with both AM and FM bands. That was a big deal at that time.
Slogan please…. what was it?

I once beat out thousands of other sperm and were born in America, so yah I won pretty big!
