John Muir Health’s Concord and Walnut Creek medical centers have once again been named Best Regional Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report for 2026-27. The hospitals were among just 505 of 4,500 nationwide to receive the designation. Concord Medical Center also earned a national Top 50 ranking in Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery for the 20th consecutive year, placing it among fewer than 4% of hospitals evaluated. Both hospitals received 15 high-performing ratings for adult procedures and conditions. Walnut Creek Medical Center also earned high-performing recognition in Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. Among nearly 50 hospitals in the San Francisco metro area, Concord and Walnut Creek ranked in the top four. Statewide, Concord ranked No. 20 and Walnut Creek No. 27 out of more than 400 hospitals. John Muir Health operates nearly 750 licensed beds between the two medical centers. Walnut Creek Medical Center has served as Contra Costa County’s designated trauma center for the past 40 years, and the health system includes more than 1,200 primary care and specialty physicians.

I was recently at JM Walnut Creek and saw plenty of nurses and other employees sporting pink hair or purple/green hair, black lives matter shirts, neck tats, nose piercings, and trans buttons. Not to mention they were rude as *&^%. Sorry Concord donut, but none of that is the least bit professional.
Very similar experience I had when my 94 year old mom went in with stomach ulcers. They were so rude and impatient with a 94 year old let that sink in!

Overrated and no different than Kaiser. I have had both and recieved the same care. I could care less about awards handed out by people that are paid to say nice things.
