E-bike and motorized scooter riders in Danville will be required to get off their bike and walk while inside all town parks starting Thursday. The new rule applies to all town parks and is intended to improve safety for pedestrians and other park users. Riders must walk, rather than ride, e-bikes and motorized scooters while within park boundaries. This ordinance was developed after months of growing complaints from town residents.
QUESTION: Should all cities/towns do follow Danville’s lead?
About time!
I love the idea of banning e-bikes in parks. I have seen so many near misses of young kids on e-bike hitting walkers. But unfortunately there is no way to stop it unless you have someone around to enforce it all day long. If someone called the police it would take them to long to get there and stop them.
It’s a start … but will it be enforced? … or will it be a series of untracked “warnings”
