Climate experts are warning that a potential “super El Niño” could bring stronger winter storms, heavy rainfall, flooding, high sea levels, and increased lightning activity to the Bay Area and California this winter. During a virtual town hall hosted by state Sen. Mike McGuire, experts said record-warm Pacific Ocean temperatures are fueling what could become one of the strongest El Niño events on record. If forecasts hold, the biggest impacts are expected in December and January. In addition to flooding and coastal erosion, officials warned that lightning from winter storms could increase wildfire risk. Residents are encouraged to prepare now by signing up for emergency alerts, assembling emergency supplies, and having a plan in place. Experts stressed that while the forecast is not guaranteed, current conditions suggest the potential for an unusually active and impactful winter.

These climate experts can’t tell us with certainty what the weather will be in the next 48 hours. They expect us to believe their warnings of pending disaster? Nothing but hot air and scare tactics.
Quite a bit more than hot air, amigo. There’s easy-to-understand science behind this one. In the Pacific earlier this year, the tradewinds – which play a significant role in regulating the temperature of the Pacific ocean – were actually reversed by a handful of powerful storms along the equator. While historical meteorologists were already anticipating warmer waters in the East Pacific this year, this event tilted things to an extreme. This is likely to cause drought in areas that rely on tropical moisture, and cause huge amounts of rain in areas that can’t really handle it. It will also impact commercial fishing significantly. Do a YouTube search on “Super El-Niño” for a breakdown.

There was a warning online 3 weeks ago of an atmospheric river on the way to California. You know, one of these posters that take over 20 minutes until they actually tell you when it will occur. It’s all about the money of course because if they do long posts like that they get more clicks and chances of money. I just click to the last few minutes to see if it really is just click bait or not. Anyway he’s back at it again so we’ll see. This is why I like YT Shorts. 😎

We need more dams and reservoirs, but we should also be building desalination plants and should be refilling depleted aquifers.
I remember 2 years ago, when the experts sent out a Tsunami warning in Berkeley and Alameda. People were so scared they fled to rooftops. Meanwhile the Bay was flat as a lake.
I doubt if it will be that severe to Claycord Country – but whatever – bring it on! We need it!
Rather than “climate experts” or “weather forecasters” it would be more accurate to call them “climate speculators” and “weather speculators.”
When I was young, they called it rain. Then they started calling it a storm. Then they called it the pineapple express. Then they called it an atmospheric river. Now it’s en existential precipitation event of cataclysmic proportions.
