Contra Costa County firefighters responded to two homeless encampment fires in Concord early Saturday morning. The first fire was reported around 5 a.m. near Market Street and Highway 242, in the area behind the Smart Stop Storage, where a fire also broke out last week. A second fire was reported shortly after 6 a.m. near Concord Avenue and Highway 242. No injuries were reported.
and if I recall, one at the end of Mayette next to Smart Stop storage, right where the creek and 242 intersect. I just spoke to someone that had most all their things stolen at Smart Stop, she opened her locked unit to find a hole in the roof and her stuff gone.
It’s time for Caltrans to remove these homeless encampments from their property.
How many more of these homeless fires do we have to pay for and put firefighters at risk? This is beyond ridiculous … somebody needs to do something
Concord Council Members, ARE YOU LISTENING?!!!! Do something beyond
patting yourselves on the back.
A thought, call the board of supervisors and email Concord city council members
asking them WHY homeless encampments always seem to be near recycling
centers ? ? ? (Just in case, they haven’t made the connection)
.
Why not make a concerted effort to locate homeless shelters and counseling
services in one place in a city then incentivize recycling centers to relocate
to same area as shelters Arnold Industrial Way would be a good place to consider.
.
Recycling centers are already known as a homeless magnet, build off of that.
Homeless removals are expensive along with being very dangerous for workers
doing cleanups.
.
Maybe, it’s too simple, to group services and attractants together.
.
NAW, lets keep doing same-ole . . . . . . whack-a-mole
Wow, our government won’t allow safe and sane fireworks so that parents and grandparents can get together with their children and grandchildren and make core memories on the 4th of July, but they will allow degenerate, mentally ill alcoholics, and drug addicts run around while you’re sleeping setting fires and not do anything about it. Now there’s a government you can be proud of, and to all the haters, you can hate me for telling the truth but it’s the truth.
If we only had more affordable housing…. sarcasm
