A 3.8 magnitude earthquake was reported in the East Bay on Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake was reported at 8:30 a.m. and was centered about 2 miles north of San Leandro near the Oakland Zoo. The USGS initially reported it had a magnitude of 4.0 but later downgraded it to 3.8. Shaking from the earthquake was reported across much of the East Bay and elsewhere in the region. BART trains stopped as a precaution after the quake but regular service has resumed. Alameda County Fire Department spokesperson Cheryl Hurd said the department had not received any calls related to the quake Thursday morning.

I certainly felt the earthquake in Martinez, but it wasn’t all that strong. It felt similar to the strength of the recent San Ramon earthquake cluster. I hope we don’t get a much stronger one anytime soon.
I didn’t feel it in Martinez but then I was probably in the shower at that time.

No I did not. I am surprised I did not feel it because I usually feel the Hayward fault quakes.
