Yes, bumper cars I guess is a sport so I have high scores. I have gotten rear ended five times in traffic (zero at fault) people simply don’t pay attention. Twice I had my insurance co fix it and go after them as their insurance sucked others simply said “my bad, sorry” and insurance took care of it. not a big deal when no one is hurt. lucky nothing other than crunching some sheet metal.

I can’t speak for other insurance companies, but I do know that State Farm is very aggressive about going other insurance companies as well as uninsured/underinsured drivers, personally.
Nope never did. People do not want to experience that at all. It is a terrible tragedy. All I hope is for every driver to drive safely!!
In 1980, just bought a new Toyota SR5 pick-up.
Had it only 8 hours and this guy ran a red light and bashing our front driver’s fender and hood.
This guy had taken his roommates car without her knowledge, … OOPS!
She saw her car the next morning and thought someone hit her parked car, … he didn’t tell her.
She was totally surprised to find out what really happened when we called her.
Her Insurance Company took care of it and told the guy roommate to move out. 🙂
I never had an accident where it was my fault. The most serious was when
a lady was driving north, and I was driving south. At an intersection she
made a left turn in front of me and my car hit her car. I immediately ran over
to check on her, she was unconscious and hanging out of the door on the
driver’s side. I lifted her out and placed her on the pavement and performed
CPR. By the time she woke up, an ambulance was there and they took her
away. The next day I visited her at the hospital, and to my relief, she was
recovering and doing fine. Her insurance covered the damage to my car.
I’ve also had a couple of hit and runs where someone hit my car while it was
parked. The worst hit-and-run was when someone hit a 1972 Corvette I had
been working on. That one was bad because the parts needed to repair it
were hard to find, and expensive. The most expensive parts was the hood
which needed replacement and the front bumper assembly. Long story short,
I found the parts, had the car repaired, and finished the job of restoring it and
I gave it to my granddaughter as a graduation present.
Another time I was rear ended by a CHP at the Bay Bridge toll plaza. I slowed
down to enter the toll plaza and the cop behind me hit my rear bumper.
Because we were driving slow enough to enter the toll plaza, there wasn’t
any damage, not even a scratch. The cop asked me if I wanted him to make
out a report, but I didn’t want him to get into any trouble with his superiors,
so I told him to forget about it.
Yes…. knock on wood – none my fault. Usually as a result of other drivers not paying attention or doing something stupid. The most ridiculous – I was sitting in a SUV as a DMV Examiner (passenger seat) a guy had just bought a brand new large electric motorcycle – obviously didn’t know how to ride, and rear ended the SUV at speed under the carport at the DMV at a complete stop, when I was going through the pre-drive checklist. It totaled the SUV, motorcycle flew into a thousand pieces (had about 20 miles on it) – he broke his leg – got lucky at that. Have a ton of stories 🙂
I had a hit and run three years ago on YVR at Oak Grove heading east (no surprise there!). Called 911 and explained the collision and that I was carefully following them. I gave them the description of the car, license number etc.
Once heading up the pass they told me WCPD would not send a cruiser as we had moved too far east. Instead, they requested I return to Walnut Creek to meet an officer for a report.
Insurance handled it, and they made no effort to prosecute the hit and run.
My wife was the 4th car stopped on Cowell at Babel when some guy in a commercial van rear ended her at full speed. Our car was totaled and her injuries required surgery and therapy. The distracted driver only had $25,000 of liability insurance, but AAA defended like they had a million on the line. They did their best to blame my wife, but they eventually paid out. Then we filed an underinsured claim with State Farm. After they paid out, they sued the other driver. I don’t know how that worked out, but they may well have bankrupted him.
In ’83, I was driving on YV near the Shadelands. I was doing 47 mph (cruise control) in the right lane. The light at Via Monte (near Safeway) was red, so I had tapped the break and was now coasting up to the light. Some guy in a GIANT, old Cadillac turned left onto YV in the middle lane and basically finished his turn as my light turned green.
I hit resume on the cruise and accelerated. As I was almost even with the Caddy, the driver cut me off, hit his brakes, and turned into Encino Grande. I locked up my brakes but it was too late and I rear-ended him We stopped in the parking lot and he immediately started yelling about getting rear ended. My gf walked to a pay phone and called the cops.
Cop show up and we tell him our story. Cop asks how fast I was going. “Max, 47. I had just engaged my cruise control”. Caddy guy tells the truth but admits to never seeing before changing lanes. He keeps complaining to the cop that I was on cruise control. The cop finally has had enough and says to him, “Driving with cruise control is perfectly legal and in fact, a very pleasurable way to drive.” I knew I had won the argument!
My car’s front end was destroyed with fluids gushing out of the car. Caddy had a broken tail light. Dad was not happy when I got home, but insurance paid it all. .

Many, many years ago, I was stopped in the right lane to cross another road to get through the main gate at the Charleston Naval Base. Beside me, in the left lane was a semi whose driver was arguing with the Marine sentry about entering the base. Finally, the Marine told him he needed to turn right to get to the next gate, so the trucker turned right, right over my poor Barracuda. The undercarriage of the trailer ripped my front end to shreds, and I was leaking all kinds of fluids, also. State Farm fixed my car and dealt with the trucking company.
Walnut Creek cop didn’t cite you for going 2 mph over the speed limit?….. I’m shocked!
Using cruise control around town? OK I guess, seems kind of unnecessary.
