The difference is that tax dollars don’t fund McDonalds. People choose to patronize there. They CHOOSE to download apps. Flock is being forced on us.

I hope it’s only a matter of time until these Flock and Axon cameras are found to be unconstitutional unwarranted searches. With the current court cases regarding Flock and Axon surveillance working through the court system, the U.S. Supreme Court sending the geofencing warrants back to the lower court to determine if they violate the 4th Amendment, and the 4th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals finding aerial surveillance in Baltimore unconstitutional, I believe we have some hope of getting rid of these cameras. Now, we also have to work on getting cities, counties, and states to ban this technology from being employed on private property, too.

There’s a huge difference between government owned and controlled surveillance cameras capturing much more that your license plate while your engaged in your Constitutional Right to Travel versus an American choosing to do business with a private company who’s collecting information on them. Furthermore, as residents of California we have the right to contact the businesses that we choose to use and patronize and they are required by law to disclose to the customer for their review what information has been collected on them and who it’s been shared with, and the customer can choose to have the business delete a portion of or all of the information that has been collected by them.
The government can buy the information the private companies collect and sell to others.

Yes, the government can purchase information collected by private businesses because Congress has failed to pass The Fourth Amendment Is Not For Sale Act and the Supreme Court has not yet had a case before them to declare this as unconstitutional.

Yet, the fact remains that residents of California can contact the companies that they do business with to review and/or delete the information collected on them before that information is sold. It’s not difficult to do, I do it all of the time.
I guess you could move to the UK to get even more coverage. They have lots of cameras there and no free speech. What is this world coming to? 😲

The difference is also that individuals make that choice when they decide to purchase a newer car, and you can also make the choice to disconnect the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) in most newer cars. Individuals have a Constitutional Right to Travel in the United States, but you can’t make in or out of the City of Concord without being recorded by a Flock camera, and it’s not just the license plate being recorded.

The same is true for consumers making purchases with debit/credit cards, they make that choice by not using cash, but they can still have the personal information collected by a business deleted as residents of California.

Many stores are also pinging the cell phones of customers while they’re in a store, especially large stores.
Recall the failed attempt at smart shopping carts with antennas in the ceiling.
Turned out people weren’t ready for that much intrusion.

time you pull into a parking space, all thru the store, what you stop to look at,
everything you buy with point of sale software, then out into parking lot.

Again, as a resident of California you can contact all of the businesses that you choose to do business with and they are required to disclose to you what information they’ve collected on you and you can have them delete that information. I do it all of the time. Also, there’s a huge difference between government surveillance and surveillance by private companies that you choose to patronize, which you have chosen to not recognize.

George Bush and Bill Clinton should be disagreeing with him at the top of their lungs on the highest mountain. Nice. You mention Flock cameras in your post, but then you criticize Yoyohop and myself for responding to your comment about Flock cameras because we didn’t mention other LPRs mounted on police vehicles that you also didn’t mention.

There’s no need to go to Pittsburg to look at their police vehicles mounted with LPRs on them, as I’m just as opposed to the LPRs mounted on Concord Police Department vehicles. The difference is that a limited number of Concord Police Department vehicles are equipped with LPRs versus the dozens of Flock cameras planted throughout the city and not being able to make it in or out of the City of Concord without having your license plate captured. It’s a roll of the dice if your going to come across a Concord Police Department vehicle with or without mounted LPRs while traveling through the city, but you can’t avoid a Flock camera, if you’re entering or exiting the City of Concord. That’s the big difference!!!

I have just as many issues with the City of Concord’s Axon drones because I don’t trust Axon, just as I dont trust Flock Safety, and the Concord Police Department has shown us all that they can’t be trusted!!!

I also have problems with the City of Concord’s Axon body cameras and dash cameras, but that’s because of a loophole in California state law that allows these records to be denied to the public through a California Public Records Act request and require a court order for the public to obtain these records and the way the Concord Police Department chooses to selectively use this loophole to avoid accountability, transparency, and embarrassment.

I have a problem with the way the Concord Police Chief decided to turn off the scanners after Attorney General Rob Bonta issued guidance on the release of private information over police communication networks. All Chief Bustillos had to do was to issue policies to protect private information, but even he knows he can’t trust his own officers to be able to follow these privacy policies, so he took the easy way out and went to fully encrypted communications so that the public could no longer hear information over the scanners.

I have problems with the way the Concord Police Department covered up the shooting that took place in the lobby of the Concord Police Department last year. The only reason the public even found out about this shooting was because the press was listening to the scanners.

I also have problems with the many issues allowed to perpetually exist within the Concord Police Department and are never dealt with because the mission of the Concord Police Department is to protect the Concord Police Department, not to do anything for the residents of Concord. Ever since Chief Mark Bustillos arrived in Concord and those that he’s put into leadership positions, the Concord Police Department has severly declined in quality!!! Chief Bustillos doesn’t believe in honesty, accountability, or transparency!!! He needs to go!!!!!!!

I’ve mentioned all of these things many times before, I haven’t just mentioned Flock cameras, but they’re one of our biggest problems because of their placement locations throughout the city and that they’re doing unwarranted searches on every vehicle and person they capture.
