The smoke-free rules apply to shared spaces such as parks, playgrounds, restaurants, stores, sporting events and areas immediately surrounding buildings. The regulations are intended to protect public health while ensuring residents and visitors can enjoy public spaces without exposure to secondhand smoke. Residents and businesses are encouraged to follow the city’s smoke-free requirements and help maintain a healthier community. Even homeless? I cant smoke but I can use your bushes as a bathroom, have fires in public to cook my food and sleep on your sidewalks.
So the “unhoused” can’t even enjoy a post meal smoke after the advocates provide them some food in the park.
Maybe the dogs at the farmers market can be next? Signs every 5 feet with zero enforcement. Dog fights weekly.
I’ve always noticed that Martinez has many more smokers than I’ve seen in places like Walnut Creek. I spent years surrounded by smokers, in the army and in open office spaces. I was very happy when smoking in the office became prohibited.
Does this apply to cannabis? Or are we only targeting tobacco users these days? Ironnically, Cannabis seems to be more socially accepted these days.
Maybe amongst doper smokers it is, but not for non smokers.
Pot smells 4X as bad as tobacco and turns your mind to mush.

I wish they’d do something more about all of the marijuana smokers in public than the tobacco smokers.

If the City of Martinez is so concerned about smoking in public then they should’ve only allowed former Congressman George Miller III and his marijuana dispensary to sell edible and topical marijuana products and banned the sale of smoked marijuana products.
