A new indoor shooting range, firearms training facility and retail store is being proposed for North Main Street in Walnut Creek. Elite Armory is seeking city approval to open the facility at 2615 N. Main St., in a vacant commercial building formerly occupied by Lewis & Lewis Carpets. The proposal is scheduled to go before the Walnut Creek Design Review Commission on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
Plans call for expanding the existing 3,000-square-foot building by 1,280 square feet, bringing it to 4,280 square feet. The remodeled facility would include a nine-lane indoor shooting range, instructional classes, firearms training sessions and retail sales. The project also includes a redesigned exterior, additional parking, landscaping, lighting, security cameras and other improvements. According to the city’s report, the site currently has five parking spaces. The project would add 16 spaces for a total of 21, four more than required under city parking standards.
Elite Armory says the range would operate in a heavily reinforced indoor environment with ballistic-rated walls and ceilings, sound-absorbing materials and other safety features. Public hours are proposed from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends, with additional reservation-only hours proposed for law enforcement agencies and qualified trainers. A noise study submitted with the project found modeled noise levels at the four nearest residential locations would remain below existing ambient noise levels during operating hours, although gunfire could be faintly audible at two locations when background traffic noise is lower. Wednesday’s Design Review Commission meeting is not the final approval. Commissioners are being asked to review the building design, site layout, landscaping, lighting and other elements and make a recommendation. The Planning Commission would later consider the Conditional Use Permit and final Design Review.

To be clear I don’t oppose the idea I just think that WC is too left wingy and gun shy to allow it.
All the more reason to be able to protect yourself from those with mental problems or the drug addicts robbing stealing and assaulting to support their habits!

Sounds good. Indoor ranges are fun but I will be shocked if the Walnut Creek City Council gives the go ahead. Should make for some lively city Council meetings.

Cherish Khaund is running for Walnut Creek City Council this year and she’s claiming to be running unopposed, which would mean she’s already won, unless someone runs a successful write-in campaign against her in the general election. She’s said that she’s one of two candidates running for two seats on the Walnut Creek City Council.
She’s smart. In 2013, she came (from Seattle) saw the DEI “inequities” and conquered the status quo. She ran for MDUSD, got lucky, then she implemented bilingual arabic onto MDUSD’s website. She fought hard against secession of Northgate (NUSD) divorcing themselves from MDUSD saying that it’s racist. She started the Diablo Valley Democratic Club which irked the other existing democratic clubs. She invited some lefty politicians to sit on the board of MDUSD, changing the structure and direction. Both of her kids identify as Trans.
Taught our kids gun SAFETY at an early age. Kids need to learn SAFE firearms
handling and RESPECT for the firearm that can’t be learned from TV, video games
and movies.

Walnut Creek couldn’t even handle a bowling alley downtown without problems. Had to shut down….remember?
