Caltrans will close the westbound Carquinez Bridge on Interstate Highway 80 for 53 hours starting Friday night as crews work on a deck rehabilitation project. The closure will start at 10 p.m. and continue through the weekend. It is scheduled to end by 3 a.m. Monday. In San Francisco, Caltrans will also reduce motorist access to southbound and northbound lanes on U.S. Highway 101 between Cesar Chavez and 17th streets starting at 11 p.m. for the Hospital Curve rehabilitation project. It will conclude by 6 a.m. Monday. Another closure is planned for Sept. 4-7. Caltrans is advising drivers to plan ahead for the weekend work and possible delays.
