The Concord City Council will consider an agreement Tuesday related to ramp metering along the Interstate 680 corridor. The council is scheduled to consider approving an I-680 Corridor Ramp Metering Memorandum of Understanding and authorizing the city manager to execute the agreement. The council would also direct city staff to continue working on outstanding coordination issues identified by regional ramp metering committees. Ramp meters are traffic signals located at freeway on-ramps that regulate how quickly vehicles enter the freeway. The systems are intended to manage traffic flow and reduce congestion caused when large numbers of vehicles merge onto a freeway at the same time. According to the city agenda, the agreement is connected to ramp metering projects involving Caltrans and the Contra Costa Transportation Authority. Both projects have already received required state and federal environmental clearances. The Concord City Council will consider the agreement during its meeting Tuesday, Aug. 25, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Concord City Hall, 1950 Parkside Drive.

they should do something about entering 4 from 680 going towards martinez that entrance is hit or miss if someone doesnt side swipe you or if someone isnt an A hole and doesn’t let you merge.
if they think metering is gonna help wait till they build those housing units at the naval station and then see how traffic is lets build a 9 lane hwy LOL
We don’t need this, but it is of course a done deal and the Concord City Council will approve this.
I can’t help but think that there is an effort to make driving so miserable that people will opt to take even more miserable BART trains. As this silly waste of money tax is put before us in November, seem they want to make the driving option less attractive. It’s not about making our lives better, it’s about driving us into their maximum grift machine. Whatever happens VOTE NO on Measure RTM. Burn it all down, it’s pure waste and theft.

That’s what California’s declared War on Cars is all about, making traveling by car and parking absolutely miserable so that the population will voluntarily give up their freedom to travel by car and instead walk, bike, or travel by government subsidized public transportation.
To have a problem FUBARed beyond all recognition, allow multiple
of government committees to be involved.

You use a plane or helicopter during commute hours, to observe which
ramps are responsible for merging slow downs then order metering
equipment installed. No need for twenty five meetings.
LOL……..ramp meters are not “green”. Everytime I’ve gone through any of them it is PEDAL to the METAL when merging onto freeway. No amount of special “low resistance” tires or SMOG checks will solve that!
I thought that’s what the pot holes are for.

OK, when are they going to fix the metering light on the ramp between Galindo and 242 which doesn’t work 1/3 of the time?
