Not only is Reno west of Los Angeles…so are six state capitals.
Was in the parlor awaiting the phlebotomist to practice, in this case, her craft. While waiting, I saw a mother of perhaps early 30s, but could’ve been late 20’s, with a young boy with her. The boy had one Hot Wheel that he was not playing with just sitting there while mom was on her phone, paying the child no mind. sad, really.
Remember when waiting rooms always had “Highlights” magazine with “find the animal” or object or …. That magazine would keep my kids ~and me~ totally occupied, together, and unconcerned about “medical” issues for the whole wait …. You’d think today’s parents would remember … and want those fun & educational props for their kids too. I saw a toddler in line at the store with mom, seat of his pants..obvious full diaper.. and he was clicking away, playing on a phone. The kid could not have been over 2 yrs. Digital “loner” brain training?

I can tell that I’m old, because I don’t understand how we got to having school in session before Labor Day. It makes no sense to me.
Status Report : Fire hazard removal of weed and dry grass on both sides of YVR east of Oak Grove in WC to the city limit. I notified / requested / complained to the city of WC 3x through official channels over the last several months… no action. So about a month ago I filed similar requests / complaints to CCC Fire. Well – PROGRESS!. They inspected the areas involved 8/19 and issued an abatement to the city citing a 2 week due date for completion! Now let’s see if the city of WC does the right thing & comply – stay tuned!
I just drove by there today, looking at both sides of YVR, and was wondering about the fire hazards. Looked very ominous, neglected. Thank you “domo: for the heads up, we have to keep our eyes out, head on a swivel these days, for situations like this.
I keep a lookout for earthquakes which often occur around eclipses and I see like clockwork one hit last night right off the coast from Petrolia measuring 4.9. Remember the hot water that the Alameda county geologist got into for predicting Loma Prieta?
I swear if I even look at my Shop Vac it tips over.
So tired of listening to screaming kids in public. Where is the parents embarrassment?
I have the same experience in my neighborhood. I’m a 50’s baby, seems like my parents were correct on acting on & discouraging their kids screaming in public, by whatever means. Discipline was activated & enforced at an early age by my parents. Times have changed.

There are plans to build a mixed-use development project on the 900-acre site of the Valero Refinery in Benicia. It looks similar to what’s planned for the former CNWS.
They’d best put that on hold.
Once CA is rid of democrat infestation and their green plague, may want to reopen.
