Yes, I heard it just before noon. It was pretty loud, and I went out to look but I couldn’t see it.
My two grandchildren were at school in Concord. When they heard the jet they screamed because they thought they were going to die. There was no other news coverage of this event. I think more information is needed.
I remember when the US Navy would fly over the Bay Area at Mach I,
breaking the sound barrier. The sonic boom caused our house to vibrate,
and crack the kitchen window. One time it actually broke into pieces.
In the 1960s, the Pentagon banned military supersonic flights over
populated areas, but it wasn’t until 1973 when the FAA made it illegal for
any aircraft to fly at or above Mach I speeds over the United States.
Sounded like it was on after burners on Pine Hollow in my car. Wife said kids tried to run out of her classroom to see it.
U.S. Marine Corps phased out F/A-18 Hornet aircraft, last one left El Segundo in June.
So who does the plane belong to ? ? ?

I’m going to step out on a limb here and say the aircraft was actually either a F/A-18E or F Super Hornet or the EA-18G Growler and not the legacy F/A-18 Hornet. The Super Hornet/Growler are operated by the Department of the Navy. The training center for the Growler is at NAS Whidbey Island outside Oak Harbor, WA so my SWAG is it was the EA-18G Growler.
From the short video there is no way to tell and you’d really have to have a clear view of the intakes to have some level of confidence to tell the difference between Hornet and Super Hornet/Growler.
FYI: According to Google the legacy F/A-18 Hornet is still be flown by the Reserve Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 112 (VMFA-112) the “Cowboys” out of NASJRB Fort Worth, TX and the aircraft is not scheduled to be retired until 2030 so they have not completely phased them out of service.
I was outside on the phone and had to stop talking because the sound was deafening, even though it was pretty high up. Cats were startled and a car alarm was triggered in our neighborhood.
It was ridiculously loud
and sounded so low i thought it must have come out of Buchanan !
