The Concord Planning Commission is scheduled to consider plans Wednesday night for a new 7 Brew Coffee at 4660 Clayton Road, at the site of an existing drive-through restaurant. As we first reported a few weeks ago, the proposal would convert the 3,664-square-foot building (formerly KFC/A&W) into a drive-through-only 7 Brew location. The project was originally considered by the Planning Commission on Aug. 5 but was continued after nearby residents raised concerns about noise, privacy, tree removal and the proposed operating hours. Commissioners also raised questions about employee parking and amplified sound. Since then, the applicant has revised portions of the proposal. Plans now call for an eight-foot wooden fence along part of the property bordering a neighboring home, along with 29 new Pacific wax myrtle shrubs to provide additional screening. The revised conditions would also prohibit outdoor amplified sound, including public-address speakers. 7 Brew expects to typically have six to 10 employees working at the location, with as many as 12 during occasional peak periods. Traffic has also been a consideration. The proposed site would have enough drive-through queuing space for up to 25 vehicles, and the city would require a queue-management plan designed to prevent cars from backing up onto Clayton Road. City staff is recommending the Planning Commission approve the project. According to the city, the Concord shop would be one of 7 Brew’s first locations in California.

There is a Dutch Bro coffee what 2 stores away and they are open till 11. Not sure what the big issue is since there are also homes behind Dutch. I see kids and homeless out there all night long hanging out making noise.
If I recall they don’t derve real coffee at all – just other and sugary drinks
Rather brave adventure, opening a business in California, considering high cost
of living and being such a rough time for family budgets. How far off are we from
a business like this to be run by completely by computers, having a single
employee to stock machines with ingredients and make minor adjustments ? ? ?

It’s absurd that they’re taking time to discuss this. There’s already a drive thru there it shouldn’t take a bunch of meetings to approve such a minor change of use. Approval for this should have been instant.

If the Dems are so worried about air quality and climate change, why aren’t
they concerned with the harmful pollutants coming from the line-up of idling
vehicles sitting in a drive through?

7brew is a carbon copy of DutchBros, or vice versa. They are the same type of overpriced sugary drinks, with people outside taking orders, similar pricing. Like Sam’s Club and Costco, Change the signs and you wouldn’t know which store you were in. TOO MANY COFFEE PLACES!

Coffee? No, not really. Actually fat bomb coffee milkshakes, for our country of fatsos.
I have no faith in the city after they allowed Dutch Bros at such an absurd location. It makes accessing Taco Bell difficult. Almost everyone that parks at Taco Bell is actually a Dutch Bros customer. And the school behind Dutch Bros, which is only go to make the situation even worse hasn’t even opened. Having another drive thru coffee, this time at the former KFC has it’s own set of problems. The exit is narrow. If it manages to attract the same number of people as Dutch Bros, its going to add congestion. It’s unfortunate that KFC is gone. I tried Popeyes for the first time, and it’s mediocre at best. How do you make biscuits so extremely dry? At least KFC had some decent food options. Anyway, these coffee shops should really be located in more maneuverable areas.
Instead, how a bakery the makes real bread, and a store that sells real food; and not mega corporate industrial factory chemical food.
