Too bad, governor.
My landscape is brown and I’ve even reduced showers, but I bet governor has done nothing to conserve. Knowing his hypocrisy he is probably used more water while telling us to use less

Puffandstuff September 22, 2021 - 4:35 PM - 4:35 PM

Oh no! What’s the emperor going to do to us little people?

Sick of it September 22, 2021 - 4:58 PM - 4:58 PM

Conserve water in houses that are already set up with every water saving device from last drought and rules for new construction. What a joke. Quit building new houses till you figure out how to use what we have and store more water. Also this house if shortage is a joke. Think of how many houses are used for just Vacation rental sales online and only that. We have let them all screw us over and now we pay there price for not controlling how this state uses it’s water storage. Quit voting for these same old politicians there not in it for us

Ricardoh September 23, 2021 - 10:05 AM - 10:05 AM

To accommodate all of the arrivals from all over the world. Millions actually we have the whole Pacific Ocean ready to be picked. In the mean time I am keeping my lawn green.

Here come the water passports.

Tsa September 23, 2021 - 10:16 AM - 10:16 AM

If there’s water to grow pot, there’s water for our lawns…

anon September 23, 2021 - 12:53 PM - 12:53 PM

Your lawn does absolutely nothing. It provides nothing. You nor the wildlife derive no actual use from it. It’s useless, and it’s an objective waste of water.

Cannabis, well, has uses, some of them well documented by medical science. Its fiber is invaluable, without hemp rope there would have literally been no crossing of the oceans, no America. Its seeds are a superfood with a complete amino acid profile, a rare thing non-animal sources. It’s also a hardy plant that requires far less water.

Tsa September 23, 2021 - 1:53 PM - 1:53 PM

@anon You need to educate yourself regarding lawns and trees. I never said there weren’t some legitimate uses for pot/hemp but my lawn is functional and not just pretty.
My lawn and trees provide cooling for my home and eliminate/minimize my use of AC which uses electricity. My lawn and trees, through the process of photosynthesis, take in carbon dioxide and subsequently release oxygen into the atmosphere. I’ll think I’ll keep my lawn and trees. Water for all!

SB September 25, 2021 - 8:41 AM - 8:41 AM

Wow, Tsa! That’s the best argument I have every seen on this platform. If marijuana has benefits, smoking the whole neighborhood is not one of them. It is only a matter of time before we have evidence that the smoke is dangerous. It should be obvious; all smoke is dangerous.

Stove September 23, 2021 - 10:20 AM - 10:20 AM

I havent changed my use, which hasnt changed since last drought when i reduced as much as possible, im used to a dead brown lawn and plants in the yard. Nothing else i can do to reduce water usage, probably the same as all others in the state.

If they didnt keep building houses the water would be fine, but more houses means lost more water used.

parent September 23, 2021 - 10:30 AM - 10:30 AM

My grass is green at my house.

Why, it is fertizlied. When it is watered, twice a week now only, it is done at night to reduce evaporation. There is no run off on my lawn because we installed the sprinkler correctly. All of the garden is on drip irrigation, again no water run off. We also use city recycled water for some of our plants. All water fixtures in the house are low flow.

What more can I do?

Kill the lawn that I spent 100+ hours setting up so it is green with no waste?
Kill the vegetable garden and spend more money at the store buying fruits and veggies?
Don’t flush between uses …
Shower every 2-3 days … ever smell a high school male that has not showered in a day? Espicially one that plays sports/work outs? And they cannot use the shower at the school because of COVID?

All the water was used on the 🔥’s

WC September 23, 2021 - 10:37 AM - 10:37 AM

He’s covering for his stupidity of not building new reservoirs and desalinization plants by blaming the little people.

ManBearPig September 23, 2021 - 11:04 AM - 11:04 AM

Sounds like we need to stop building more residences. We do not have the water for what we already have so then the water emergency overrules the housing “emergency”.

Unless Gavin is going to run purple pipes to supply the new residences with only recycled water, we have to fix the water scarcity problem first.

.
Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (“AOC”, D-NY) once said green suburban lawns are indicative of racist white neighborhoods.

anon September 23, 2021 - 12:50 PM - 12:50 PM

Lawns are objectively an enormous waste of water, they provide nothing for neither the owner nor wildlife. They’re trash and they should be discouraged completely outside of the handful of regions that can actually support them naturally.

Ricardoh September 23, 2021 - 1:22 PM - 1:22 PM

Thanks Anon for the potheads view. You sound like one of my kids.

The Wizard September 23, 2021 - 1:38 PM - 1:38 PM

Get off my lawn !

Gittyup September 23, 2021 - 2:18 PM - 2:18 PM

Obviously, a lush, green landscape provides cooling relief on hot days more so than xeriscape, wall to wall rocks, or plain, old ordinary dirt.

Gittyup September 23, 2021 - 2:43 PM - 2:43 PM

Also, the birds who hunt bugs and worms in my lawn might disagree with you.

Even Biden thinks she’s nuts.

wanna bet, water costs are going up, stop consumption with higher costs to consumers, a Win-Win for the Water Companies, no additional Capital Expenditures to capture more run-off, feed the bloated pension Plan and raises for all … all under the disguise and narrative … we’re doing this for your own good

BORbelieveer September 23, 2021 - 12:09 PM - 12:09 PM

So now Newsom has signed SB9 and SB10 into law which will allows builders to cram multiple residences onto what were previously single-family zoned lots. Seems like the water problem (and electricity problem) is about it get a lot worse.

H20 PR? September 23, 2021 - 12:24 PM - 12:24 PM

Where was the outreach? There was no effort or campaigns that I’m aware of that asked residents to cut back water use.

anon September 23, 2021 - 12:49 PM - 12:49 PM

Deport all illegal aliens, we will instantly attain the goals.

Cellophane September 23, 2021 - 4:23 PM - 4:23 PM

The Grease Ball is concerned about the water.

No, not really.

His only concern is about the control of the peasants.

Besides, grease and water don’t mix.

Middle finger extended to Newsom.

Whoe Jim September 23, 2021 - 8:29 PM - 8:29 PM

Newsom continues to build high density housing near many Bay Area Bart stations and other transit hubs subsidized by the remaining taxpayers. Those buildings will draw huge amounts of water and power. And now he us wants us to conserve water and power. What hypocrisy….

Chris September 24, 2021 - 5:55 AM - 5:55 AM

Once again, the hypocrisy from your leaders is so outrageous! I’ve stated before that we have a relative that resides near Newsom’s place in Marin County. She told us over the July 4th weekend he had a large gathering. He lives on a very GREEN and manicured 1+ acre. To keep that looking the way it is according to our relatives husband would require more daily water than 10+ households use daily, but hey…he’s the Gov and he’s obviously feeling the spirit so water police stay away.

Concord74 September 24, 2021 - 9:06 AM - 9:06 AM

Too bad!!

To Do List September 24, 2021 - 1:39 PM - 1:39 PM

Meanwhile in the real world away from leftist political propaganda, the Palm Springs Surf Club project is scheduled to open within a year with a three million gallon wave pool water park to recreate the beach surfing experience in Palm Springs. How many Bay Area democrats are carefully counting their water usage and shaming others for green lawns completely unaware of this. Oh, and did I mention there are two other water parks planned also in Palm Desert and Thermal, CA.
