ConFire Reminds Public To Not Park In Front Of Fire Hydrants

It should be common sense to not park in front of a fire hydrant, but unfortunately, people still do.

Parking illegally beside a fire hydrant endangers firefighters, residents, and your car.

Please don’t block fire hydrants.

I have seen pictures of firefighters breaking out car windows, so they can run the hose through a parked car. Fire hoses are not flexible enough to go around the car.

Duh.
.
Tow them and issue a citation with a hefty fine.
.
Or does law enforcement not do that any more?

Not practical when a fire is in progress. The fine is the same regardless if a fire is close. The engine can push it out of the way ..but that may damage chrome.

They should just tow the car or push it forward or back – then tow it

When you have limited time to connect to water and put out a fire even 30 seconds is a lifetime. They do not have time to wait up to an hour for a tow truck, do you want them waiting that long to put out the fire at your house???
DONT PARK BY FIRE HYDRANTS.

It’s so confusing these days trying to keep track of which laws are the ones that are still being enforced.

Its up to the Officers to write the tickets. The laws are still there. I always wrote them.

I thought the deal was the fire truck would just push your car out of the way, then sue you for damages to the fire truck

The fine is no different then parking at a red curb. It should be a lot more.

Itsme February 6, 2023 - 4:47 PM - 4:47 PM

People park next to a fire hydrant on my street frequently

Do you not report them to law enforcement?
.
NO?
.
Then you’re endangering yourself and your neighbors.

Pretty sure that’s covered in the English version of the DMV Driver’s Booklet, pretty close in the begining pages.

Common Sense tells you what not to do.

Yep, and just today I was driving down Monument Blvd. and an Engine with lights and sirens was trying to get through, and you wouldn’t believe all the dumb f- – – – s that didn’t know what to do. I pulled over and watched everyone keep plugging up the road. Where are these people getting their drivers licenses? GET OUT OF THE WAY PEOPLE!!!
