So Newsom caved in again? With our taxpayer money and not one salary or bonus was cut….. BART goes to hexx and we just keep handing them millions of $$ …. Voters kept the incumbents in office and defeated the recall – I hope they’re happy, I’m not. 😡

It’s absolutely amazing how politicians are willing to throw good money down the drain.

Any thing that Wener and Newscum proposes is BS. Please let BART go belly up. Vote them out…

Nailed it! Note they are still working toward a hugely expensive new transbay tunnel and expansion toward San Jose. They are a long way from running out of your money.

And the politicians wonder why so many people here in CA cheat on their state taxes. People are fed up with their taxes going for BS bailouts etc..

Imagine that… another private company bailed out at the tax payers expense. Absolutely no demands to change or adopt a better business plan. Like rewarding a child for disobedience. Back to fiscal responsibility…. if you cannot meet budget you need to correct your spending habits not simply look for more credit (money).
kind of like our debt ceiling…funny how this is the trend.
We are reaching a breaking point. we are facing a hard reset.

Bart sucks but it isn’t a Private Company.

Sorry “special service district” that the whole state pays for.

I’m pretty sure that the lack of people using BARF’ parking spaces will lead to those parking spaces being turned into housing at Concord and North Concord stations just like it happened at PH and WC.
I’m kind of disappointed that BARF took a big chunk of the San Jose Flea Market.

They cannot build more housing near the light rail system. There is a huge problem with fresh air circulation already. It’s unsustainable.

If PG&E is still in business despite all of the destruction they caused, why are people surprised our taxes and transportation fees continue to go up in order to keep all of these agencies running?
I also don’t think voters voted for this. Politicians will do whatever they want as long as they want, regardless of whatever political party they belong to. Voting someone in or out seems like a straightforward solution, unfortunately, it is a complex problem.

Hey, if you haven’t figured it out yet, California is a Democratic Utopia! And the Dems know it.
The typical naive and misinformed California voter continually votes for these sleazy politicians year after year and the picture never gets better. There has to be a balance between political parties to have any sort of positive change for the common good.
Until then, the Dems will continue to destroy the once great state of CA that we once enjoyed.

I don’t think is a total Democratic Utopia due to voters continuing to vote them in. This is a complex issue and putting the blame solely on the voters is being misinformed. The Bay Area, and big cities in the State, are perhaps full with Democrat voters but that doesn’t account for other areas of the State. Many on this site, have stated that different Unions have bought politicians’ will. Many voters don’t want their taxes going on bailing out these agencies when they would rather have that money into their pockets. Unfortunately, the reality is that the way this State is being run has to do with stuffing the pockets of millionaires/billionaires. Remember these people will never follow the same rules as the average Joe/Jane and experience financial hardship like we mere average citizens do, what makes anyone think that they will get off their seats of power if we vote them out? Remember how Newscum and the Ice Cream Queen were going by different rules than the ones set for us during the pandemic?

Despite an overwhelming Democrat majority in the state senate and legislature and almost nonstop control of the governor position, you still attempt to shift the blame for California’s problems to Republicans because of “other areas of the state.” That is absolutely the most desperate comment I could imagine in refusing to take responsibility.

If not for the union, Newsom wouldn’t care at all about BART. California politicians are owned by the unions.

.
Not one salary cut.
.
Not one hiring freeze.
.
Not one layoff.
.
… that speaks volumes.

The politicians mainly care about their image, and ‘what’s in it’, for them. I’m sure Nancy jr. doesn’t want a BART demise added to his disastrous, despicable and deplorable record, as he eyes his future presidential run.

long time rider June 13, 2023 - 9:10 AM - 9:10 AM

We already know the answer but I’ll ask anyway – Does this mean Bart will rescind the approved fare and parking hikes?

Dorothy June 13, 2023 - 11:42 AM - 11:42 AM

On top of raised fares, raised parking fees, bonds, plus something I didn’t know about until yesterday. BART is also a commercial business that sells “stuff” with BART logo, toys, and whatever else right from their website. Question: Do they have a commercial license or do they get that free?
