Concord Police Arrest Convicted Murderer For Alleged Rape Near BART Station – His Second Sexual Battery Arrest In Two Weeks

Concord police arrested a man on suspicion of rape Monday evening after he allegedly attacked a woman as she walked home from North Concord BART.

Police said Larry Ridge Jr., 40, of Berkeley, was charged Wednesday by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office with rape, assault to commit rape, and robbery.

The victim was walking on the trail along Port Chicago Highway at 6:25 p.m. when she was allegedly attacked. The man got her on the ground and she fought back until he ran back toward the BART station.

Someone on a bicycle stopped and helped the victim. They called police and went back to the BART station. BART police and Concord officers found Ridge and the victim identified him as her attacker.

“It was very brazen and unusual,” said Concord Police Lt. Mark Robison, addressing the time and location of the attack.

On March 5, 2005, Ridge was convicted in Alameda County Superior Court of two counts of second-degree murder and attempted murder of three others after a shooting in Oakland. He was released in 2019.

Ridge is currently being held in county jail in Martinez.

This guy shouldn’t see the light of day for decades…if ever again.

64

He shouldn’t see tomorrow.

Why did he even see the light after killing two people and attempting to kill three others? Then he’s arrested for sexual battery, let out, then attempts sexual battery again. Great legal system we have here in California…

It’s not the system it’s who is voted for, remember that when it comes time to vote…these people in power now don’t give a crap about anybody but themselves & their bank account balances.

24
1

Don’t forget, if you flex your 2nd amendment rights in an attempt to protect yourself, you will be the one getting prosecuted!

I’m so tired of the Da’s not holding these scumbags in prison. I’m sorry to say this should happen to one of there family members maybe then they would do their job and protect everyone.

The voters voted in this DA. And the voters in Alameda County put in someone even worse! So they kind of get what they deserve but unfortunately us good people suffer from this greatly. People got to stop voting for all this liberal Progressive left-wing crap..

18
4

100% correct but there has to be many more innocent victims before the California democrat voter wakes up.They don’t care unless it happens to their loved ones. It’s sick.

14
3

What if I told you that I suspect our votes have been stolen for years and the people in power were “selected but not elected” and that we may just find out the truth before too long?

It’s not only the DA’s… it’s our liberal judges and idiot Governor emptying out the jails and prisons. Before you vote, Google candidates’ financial statements and see who’s FUNDING them. It often tells a very transparent story.

His 2nd in 2 weeks? Just slap his wrist, tell him he is a naughty boy and release him until next week. I’m sure he’ll be up to the same tricks by then. And the last time I was called for jury duty I was let off because I don’t believe in “innocent until proven guilty.”

42
2

I like that strategy

4
1

I feel you DOROTHY! Where I come from is like that. You are guilty until proven innocent. Very shocked to see the way this country handles certain things.

4

What the hell is this guy doing out of custody? If there was ever a better case for far more
law and order, this is it. We obviously need more prisons to house all of the offenders. Then
DA’s that prosecute would help solve the problem. And, of course, hire more Police.

If not, then expect more of the same on an ever increasing upward trajectory.

33
1

Unfortunately Gavin Newsom is closing more prisons and Das are letting more criminals out under the guise of social justice. Not enough people in the public are mad enough yet to stop this practice and change who they vote for. I guess they need to be more victims

12
2

Heres what they are not telling you. When he was first caught(they skipped this part and the date)they let him go,he didnt go to court and was stopped last night in his MBZ on Clayton rd,not near N Concord Bart now is it.This partial news because they are embarrassed.I saw the entire thing happen last night.

22

@whenwilltheylearn So what were the police supposed to arrest him for when he was stopped hours before? This isn’t a Tom Cruise Minority Report world we live in…

PD’s are hiring if you care to sign up.

7

The dude had priors & never should have been released that is the point. Nobody said anything about some fictional movie that you referenced, why be aggressive towards others that actually care? Why not come together and right the obvious wrong?

13
1

2 wheeler, what are you talking about?stopped hours before????NO arrested for rape and let goes days before..pay attention maybe. The police told me they saw him driving on Clayton rd,knew he was wanted.went after him and stopped him with guns drawn.I think the car was stolen, they took it immediately.

DEM politicians helped put a convicted felon serving life without the possibility of parole, back out on our streets. SB 1437 gifted release from prison and while on parole was violated and only did 120 county jail time.

Are you kidding me? Murdering 2 people and attempting to murder 3 more only gets you 14 years in prison in California????? And how many women does he have to rape or try to rape before he’ll be held without bail. Unbelievable! Our D.A., judges, and state legislature care more about letting violent criminals walk free than they do about the safety of our law abiding citizens.

45
2

Easy way to divide & conquer, it is up to us to see threw their BS & vote them office pure & simple

8

Gavin is now releasing those sentenced to life without parole as long as they killed 2 or less.It takes 3 now for them to keep you.Otherwise they would be letting Richard Goodfellow(1985) back out to Concord.Missed it by “that much’

why was he released in the 1st place? Irresponsible. Let me guess, he is black. Photo?

28

Of course ‘from Berkeley”?
No, the other side of MLK blvd by one house..what city is that?

Why, WHY… are we tolerating these people being constantly set free? These Bay Area judges and DAs are undermining the public safety with their strange, wisted compassion for criminals. I wish they would be victims of the scum they turn loose.

Contra Costa County prosecutor Mary Knox ran against Diana Becton in the 2022 election as a “law and order” candidate for District Attorney. Voters rejected her and Becton won that election. You get who you voted for people.

17
2

I voted for Mary & would do so again in a heartbeat. Becton is TRASH

22

The problem is our votes are not be counted legally. California uses Dominion Voting machines. California has not had a fair election in years. It’s all a big joke.

I hear you but I am still voting

3
1

You are absolutely correct, FPN! Stay tuned, there is a “revolution that rivals 1776” and it is playing out right under people’s noses but many folks are still oblivious!

How’s it working out for all of you who voted for the politicians who are responsible for violent criminals out and about in our communities?

36
5

ARREST THE DA AND THROW THE KEYS AWAY!!!

28
1

Why do we tolerate this sort of criminal behavior and the DA who does not prosecute?

Instead of complaining, perhaps we should do something to make changes.

While YOU were not providing ADULT supervision DEMs have been letting convicted Felons out of state prisons then closing them. Since 2011 with passage of AB-109. then Prop 47 and Prop 57.
.
Prop 47 they spent $10,306,082 to con voters into passing it.
Prop 57 they spent $18,566,255 to con voters into passing it.

Three Strikes, AB-109, Prop 47 and Prop 57
three times liberals made concerted effort to put convicted FELONS back out onto our streets.

I bet he’s out again now..anyone check?

I read this about four times, and it made less sense with every pass.

End qualified immunity

They lock him up at 21 years old,let him out when he’s 36 , hes 40 now and just cant seem to function socially, and is mentally/emotionally still 21.Its called be institutionalized ,and he should have never been released. He is still the same age as when he went in essentially.

8
1

Correction. If he was convicted in 2005 though,it means he was arrested in 2003 or 2004 so hes been locked up since he was 19 or 20 years old.and released at 36 .

Concord is a democrat $h*t hole. This is a fact. You biden, brisan, pelosi

10
3

Lovers should have your voting rights revoked for life. I had to read the headline 3 times to make sure I understood completely. A convicted MURDERER is free out raping over and over. Let me ask, is there any crime that puts you in prison for 20 years anymore? Other than protesting a rigged election at the capitol or maybe burning a gay flag…crazy commies

18
3

Wow! Another predicable consequence of the liberal social justice reform. Make our streets safe again.

Someone ought to put old boy down for good.

I remember telling my father not to mistakenly get justice confused with the court system.
They are the opposite.

Liberals appear to have an unusually high inability to grasp, there are persons in our society who are straight up predators with zero impulse control or empathy for those they attack. Telling them you did a bad thing, now don’t do it again is limit of liberal understanding of rehabilitation. When released bad onto society their predacious nature has free reign. Their violence increases until people die.

OR is it all intentional, in an effort to instill an elevated level of fear ? ? ?

Similar to covid ? ? ?
“Newsom was asked during the news conference if he saw “potential” to use the coronavirus “crisis” to push for the implementation of a “new progressive era.”
After talking for a couple of minutes while trying to qualify his response,
Newsom said, “forgive me for being long-winded, but absolutely we see this as an opportunity to reshape the way we do business and how we govern.” ”

Watch out for this one! The Liberal Progressive Democrat Party and their supporters want to make sure this guy and some even worse than him can vote while incarcerated for felonies!! It’s called ACA 4. They are trying to get it on the ballot!! Under current law their voting rights are restored after they are released.

Isaac G. Bryan (D-Los Angeles), along with community leaders, formerly incarcerated organizers and organizations committed to protecting democracy announced the introduction of ACA 4, a constitutional amendment that will restore the voting rights of people incarcerated in California.

Criminals have no right to vote & should have no rights to vote until their debt to society is completely paid, it’s called being disenfranchised. How anyone can back this lunacy is suspect at best

10
1

It still boggles the mind even after 55 years on earth how anyone can sympathize with criminals is beyond me. They chose to be a criminal nobody forced their decision. Don’t give me the crap about anybody’s upbringing we all have free thought & capable of making the right decision.

Where is the mugshot? For all we know there could be more victims that are too afraid to come forward. When you read stories like this keep in mind that the voter turnout for the last DA election in our County was pathetic. Wasn’t it only 17.95%? We had the opportunity for change and it doesn’t seem like many people cared enough to vote. As a result we now have repeat criminals like this out on the streets attacking more innocent people.

Crazy story. My boyfriend is the one who caught the guy and chased him down toward the concord bart station. Apparently he had seen the guy just prior to this happening. He said he had a knife held at her on the ground at the trail that’s when he got off his bike and chased the dude. My boyfriend always has never been the type to be afraid of fighting if it’s needed so I’m not surprised he did this. I am just so glad the guy got caught.

Wow! Your boyfriend is a hero. I’m glad he wasn’t hurt and hope the lady the perpetrator assaulted heals.
.

Wow, thank your boyfriend, he is a real man. So many people whip out their phones to take videos while doing nothing to help, your fellow is the kind of man that makes their women proud!

The pendulum needs to swing from lawlessness back to accountability if we want to believe we’re a civilized society. It starts with the legislatures and courts. News is getting pretty raw lately and getting worse daily.
Stolen cars, smash and grabs, rapes, robberies, murders, cat converter thefts, burglaries, drugs, squatting, illegal (undocumented) immigration. We need to reverse the trend while we still can. Could take years, decades or a generation. Whatever we’re doing ain’t working. Sad to say the Golden State has lost its luster.
