SAGE Emergency and Specialty Vets is located a bit east of the motel. Crime in the area is a key factor SAGE is relocating. (They also wanted more space.) I was told SAGE staff has serious safety concerns for both staff and clients, as they are open 24/7 and maintain a fully stocked pharmacy.

NeighborhoodScout.com gives Concord a Crime Index Rating of 10 out of 100, meaning Concord is safer than only 10% of US cities.

Concord is thriving and wonderful! That’s just silly! Very sad event though😐

What a silly comment!!!!! This Motel 6 is nowhere near Sage. You must not live in or near Concord Mary Fouts.

Mary the one this story is talking about is on Clayton Rd, the one your talking about is on Monument Blvd.

Natalie July 13, 2019 - 2:36 PM - 2:36 PM

That statistic seems off. Is Concord really more dangerous than 90% of American cities?

Dumdum July 13, 2019 - 2:39 PM - 2:39 PM

Not too bad considering pleasant hill is a 4. Meaning pleasant hill is safer than only 4% of us cities. Juanita seems to be on to something.

SAGE is no where near this motel, sage is on monument and yes it is a bad area, but it’s not near Clayton road or this incident

On the other hand their new building across from DMV looks like it will be really nice

L July 13, 2019 - 1:12 PM - 1:12 PM

This happened at the Motel 6 on Clayton, Sage is next to the one on Monument.

Iola July 13, 2019 - 1:13 PM - 1:13 PM

SAGE is nowhere near this incident, sage is on monument, not a good area, but not near Clayton road at all

SAGE new place across from DMV looks like it’s going to be real nice

Thanks everyone for correcting my mix-up in the Motel 6 locations, in which I referenced the Motel 6 on Monument on my original post.

Just for the record, that hotel on Monument is Studio 6, not Motel 6, although they’ve used a similar signage and colors.
I remember way back when Motel 6 first started, the charge was a standard 6 dollars for up to four persons in a room; now the prices vary by location, and they’re certainly nowhere near that original six bucks.

Dawg July 13, 2019 - 4:02 PM - 4:02 PM

@anotheranon, Studio 6 is a hotel owned by Motel 6.

With what Sage charges, and usually fails to save your animal, they could hire armed security….Motel 6’s are renowned for prostitution, pimps and drug addicts….they leave the light on for anybody….

Pony July 13, 2019 - 2:40 PM - 2:40 PM

Now there is a surprise. Someone shot at Motel 6 on Clayton Rd. Drugs or trying to stiff a hooker come right to mind. I live two blocks from here and walk by almost every day

I’ve lived in Walnut Creek or Lafayette for 40 years, and I love the area on Monument near the current location of SAGE. Old white guy, I could be comfortable there 24/7. Good food, friendly people. You’re all weird and paranoid. Boo!

hill July 13, 2019 - 4:10 PM - 4:10 PM

Well, if you dont want to go by peoples opinions of Monument you could just look at the crime reports and the murders they have there over the years. Doubt you actually live in that area.

Someone tell Tom Bodett that he can turn the lights out now!

jon s July 13, 2019 - 4:29 PM - 4:29 PM

I went past there around 11:30 pm and there was 9 police cars and an ambulance.and guessed it had to be a shooting by the large police presence,,then the ambulance drove past my house with a police car escort, and I was sure that’s what happened,Was going to mention it on Claycord last night, but there is was too many “how do YOU know what happen?” people that like to post just to oppose you.One gets to know ones city, and that motel area seems to have people just hanging around out front like an accident waiting to happen.

jon s July 13, 2019 - 4:36 PM - 4:36 PM

Maybe you feel safe there because you only visit the area for a few minutes once in a while so that’s very easy to say when you have nothing invested in the area.,People feel safe when they visit SF also, but it is not safe to live there.
