Law professionals in the Bay Area – whether active or retired – are needed as volunteers for the 39th annual Contra Costa County High School Mock Trial Program in January and February.

The program last year had about 80 volunteers, including practicing and retired attorneys, sworn judges and third-year law students.

The group helped high-schoolers gain a working knowledge of the judicial system and learn and practice key skills.

This year’s Mock Trial will be headquartered at the A.F. Bray Courthouse, 1020 Ward St. in Martinez.

Maybe they should include a few experienced persons who have appeared in propria persona in legal hearings and trials. I have a couple trials under my belt plus dozens of hearings.

scripted & staged… doesn’t show the routine boredom, the sometimes circus, and occassion havoc of a court room.
