In coordination with the Federal Communications Commission, FEMA will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) on Wednesday, August 11 at 11:20 A.M. pacific time.

Test Messages will be sent to TVs and Radios, along with select cell phones that have opted-in to receive test messages.

I don’t have a TV, but I have a wind-up radio I’m too lazy to wind.

Guess I’m out of luck.

I only use the radio when I’m in the car. I only turn on the TV in the evening. My cell is usually turned off unless I want to actually use it. Guess I’ll never get an alert of any kind.

I remember when Comcast added Amber Alerts back in the day and the first one about blew my expensive speakers as well as everyone else’s. Apparently they had not tested the DB level of the service. Next time it was way toned down. 🙂

Hmm, a national alert TEST… Wonder what the Biden regime has planned next?

@Anonymous….What you need is a solar-up radio, but then it wouldn’t work when it’s dark….solar or wind, what to do, what to do?……

@nytemuvr The wind-up is pretty good. I think you get 30 minutes on a full wind.

My late father bought it 30 years ago so he could listen to Art Bell even if the power was off. lol

Is there an instance where this National Alert Emergency System has been used? The only instances in the last 50 years I recall are local, due to weather. Aside from that rare notification that severe weather may happen, there is the weekly test that we cannot opt out of, 2 minutes of “this is a test.”

Thanks! I’ll make a note to have everything turned off at that time.
