Wages grew by 3 percent while living expenses jumped 3.2 percent, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

Consumer prices were up an average of 1.6 percent nationwide and 2.7 percent in the West, defined as California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, Alaska and

Huge tax break for corporations,
large tax break for the 1%,
minimal tax break for the middle class,
run up the national debt.

Check, check, check, check.

Random Task, here is a website to help people understand how economy works and is affected by legislature. . http://www.RobertReich.org.

I’m not a “dem” but I am liberal minded and argued the raising the minimum wage wasn’t going to help those who receive it. It was a one-dimensional solution by people who don’t understand economics. And here we see the effect.

Oh, please August 9, 2019 - 4:18 PM - 4:18 PM

And bring in a bunch of illegals that e have to pay for from cradle to grave.

Lo August 8, 2019 - 2:44 PM - 2:44 PM

Nah? Really?? Pardon while I die of surprise…

Doh August 8, 2019 - 3:08 PM - 3:08 PM

They only noticed now? It seems like every time I go into a Raily’s or Nob Hill the price of something has risen 20-50%. Safeway actually double the price of a brand of bread I buy. I see it happening in drug stores too. It’s like an anti-price war is going on.

Mr P August 8, 2019 - 3:18 PM - 3:18 PM

Wages are for the common person but the millionaires and the billionaires keep winning!

Original G August 8, 2019 - 3:26 PM - 3:26 PM

Ever wonder why it’s so expensive to live in CA ? ? ?
Consider that question next time you vote for a 40 or 50 year bond to build something politicians and a 10 million dollar advertising campaign says you need. Same applies to ballot Propositions.

Perhaps if low information voters actually took the time needed to become informed voters . . . . .

Is too bad many voters care more about what to watch tonight and how many signal strength bars their hand held device has than in being responsible citizens of CA.

Mary Fouts August 8, 2019 - 4:10 PM - 4:10 PM

Like Original G said.

Tsa August 8, 2019 - 4:36 PM - 4:36 PM

Precisely why we are leaving CA, tired of morons electing morons and also voting for passing irresponsible ballot measures…

Cryin' Chuck August 8, 2019 - 8:46 PM - 8:46 PM

Agreed @Original G. I work with Libs who voted Dem all across the ticket…because they were told to. And they were rallying others to do the same. Well, they got what they voted for. The upper middle class is already leaving the state. They do not want to participate in this economy anymore. All that will be left are the have and have nots.

Oh, please August 9, 2019 - 4:20 PM - 4:20 PM

This is when happens when the lazy and entitled keep voting to get everything for free. Eventually my pockets run dry.

Jim W August 8, 2019 - 5:08 PM - 5:08 PM

Did new gasoline and car related fees and tolls add to the costs as well?

larry August 8, 2019 - 6:05 PM - 6:05 PM

Beside the 10 cent gas tax increase California also increased diesel tax 20 cents per gallon, gee ya think this might have something to do with increased grocery and all goods costs since most everything you buy is delivered with a diesel truck?Wake up people quit voting stupid or don’t complain.

JoRo August 9, 2019 - 5:43 AM - 5:43 AM

What Original G said. Plus how’s that $15 per hour working for you? Reaching for $20+ and a $28.50 hamburger.

Tony G August 9, 2019 - 8:57 AM - 8:57 AM

I’ve never heard of a $20 burger, even in San Francisco’s “in” restaurants. Are you making things up to support your argument? A $28.50 burger in Concord? Come’on now.

Oh, please August 9, 2019 - 4:22 PM - 4:22 PM

I guess you haven’t been out for a bit. I just went to a lower level sit down hamburger place in SF TODAY. Spent about $18 for a hamburger.

Dr. Jellyfinger August 9, 2019 - 7:27 PM - 7:27 PM

Dang! Big city prices…. I like Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. on Pier 39… nice view, and the food is ok.

Tony G August 11, 2019 - 11:26 AM - 11:26 AM

$18 Burger? Where? The Ritz Carlton or the 4 Seasons Hotel?

4th generation CCC August 9, 2019 - 9:00 AM - 9:00 AM

There is a nice article called “How Corporate Welfare Hurts You” by Professor and former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich. http://www.robertreich.org.

Oh, please August 9, 2019 - 4:23 PM - 4:23 PM

I would rather help create jobs than pay for generational welfare that keeps worthless people alive to continue sucking our the tax payer’s teat.
