When I enter my address it doesn’t do anything. If anyone else has the same issue, this page helped me better. https://www.pge.com/en_US/safety/emergency-preparedness/natural-disaster/wildfires/psps-service-impact-map.page

L October 8, 2019 - 4:19 PM - 4:19 PM

Brooke, didnt tell me anything either.

Dr. Jellyfinger October 8, 2019 - 4:43 PM - 4:43 PM

After you enter your address a window pops up with your address in bold letters, just click on that & it will pinpoint your location on the map
(you should be able to do that without help anyway). If you are not in a shaded area then your power won’t be interrupted.

ridgewalker October 8, 2019 - 4:54 PM - 4:54 PM

Brooke when I clicked on that link says it is not secure.

WC Resident October 8, 2019 - 4:20 PM - 4:20 PM

I suspect people will be able to see the outage roll across the state on http://critweb-outage.pgealerts.com/

Dude October 8, 2019 - 6:15 PM - 6:15 PM

Until the servers and cell towers go down.

John doe October 8, 2019 - 6:54 PM - 6:54 PM

This is BS I got reptiles who need heat from there lightbulb smh.

Mike October 8, 2019 - 8:12 PM - 8:12 PM

@ John doe

Same here. Got a couple of snakes and a couple of lizards that need heat lamps. Luckily my house looks like it won’t be in the affected area. I went ahead and bought some heat packs off Amazon just in case though. My guys can make it a day without heat (they should be here Thurs), but up to 5 I’m not chancing it.

I figure it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have them around for them anyways. I’m guessing this isn’t going to be the last time this happens. I live close to the Sheriff’s office and Juvenile Hall in Martinez so power most likely won’t get shut off here. I’m sure we’re on the same grid as them.

Jennifer October 8, 2019 - 6:36 PM - 6:36 PM

I want to start off saying how much this is so not right just so the billion dollar company PGE doesn’t get sued so everyone’s life gets screwed up because of them and our stupid governor who’s living high life down south with no worries while the rest of us have to live primitive life’s in 2019 this is a joke!!

AnonZ October 8, 2019 - 8:11 PM - 8:11 PM

Agreed! Manufactured crisis? Or one of their own making? PG&E must take the hit on this. We are going without power, losing the ability to generate power through our solar, and if an outage lasts more than one day we’ll lose all the food in our refrigerator and freezer? Not to mention people that need power for medical reasons, hospitals etc. And possibly closing the Caldecott Tunnel? Oh wait until they get the wrath of those commuters! Time to take away the reins from this corrupt, twice-bankrupted, so called Public Utility.

jose October 9, 2019 - 6:17 AM - 6:17 AM

Welcome to the beginning of a new third world. Voters can cure a lot of what goes on in this state, but they don’t seem to catch on to what causes it.

Cellophane October 8, 2019 - 6:36 PM - 6:36 PM

I am outraged by these outages.

I am incensed beyond words.

Tsa October 8, 2019 - 7:21 PM - 7:21 PM

Time for a Class Action lawsuit against PG&E, any attorneys out there needing something to do?

nytemuvr October 8, 2019 - 8:09 PM - 8:09 PM

@Cellophane…. Sic Greta Thurman on them!

Chico October 8, 2019 - 9:37 PM - 9:37 PM

Outraged??? Really? You mean you’re an entitled, spoiled brat! Sorry for the inconvenience. Talk to anyone who lost it all in the other firestorms. Your outrage won’t get you far. Probably a punch in the nose for being so entitled.

jon October 8, 2019 - 9:52 PM - 9:52 PM

when the power is out at your parents where you live just go out to the pool or go for a drive in the car they gave you.Or just go shopping with the credit card they gave you and pay the bill on.

Michael October 9, 2019 - 6:43 AM - 6:43 AM

Really, I’m a single parent of 2 boys going to 2 different schools currently unemployed, and yes I am looking for a new job. This is unacceptable. People have different reasons to be upset. Stop making up things you know NOTHING about. “Credit cards and cars parents bought”. You people are idiots.

Martin October 9, 2019 - 7:36 AM - 7:36 AM

No, dear. Paradise was incensed beyond words. You have merely been inconvenienced.

Willis October 8, 2019 - 7:53 PM - 7:53 PM

Wow, what a great start to a politically driven grade B Netflix sci-fi series. Probably more of a social experiment/punishment/CYA maneuver. Whatever it is, I’m not happy.

WC Resident October 8, 2019 - 7:59 PM - 7:59 PM

@Cellophane – outraging you is the intent. PG&E will continue to shut off the power at the slightest chance of wind or other events until the state legislature passes some laws absolving PG&E of liability for failures in their network. PG&E wants you, and everyone, to get outraged enough to call their state representatives and senators.

Maryanne L October 8, 2019 - 8:04 PM - 8:04 PM

1st they said N.Concord would be affected near Wpnsta & I live near Port Chicago, Olivera & N.6th but when I entered my address said its not in the affected area, will have to wait & see if I have power in the morning

Lambie October 8, 2019 - 9:05 PM - 9:05 PM

We appear to be in the clear 🙂

Is this outage really necessary?

Silva October 8, 2019 - 9:23 PM - 9:23 PM

I got “This address does not fall inside a flagged shut-off zone.” So now I finally know that I won’t be needing my ice chest full of ice in a little over a couple hours. Once again, thank you Claycord. I’ve seen PG&E company do some stupid *** before, but this really is madness.

Martin October 8, 2019 - 9:29 PM - 9:29 PM

You already bankrupted them once. What more can you take? And don’t you realize that when PG&E pays we ALL pay!?

Chico October 8, 2019 - 9:34 PM - 9:34 PM

Let’s get this straight. The past two years the state of CA has experienced two wind related firestorms (Santa Rosa and Paradise). So to prevent another of these, PG&E is being proactive and will shut off power in windy areas. We’ve also been informed for months this could happen. Are you with me so far? Good. The devastation from these above mentioned fires was incomprehensible. People died. Their homes and communities and businesses burned. Never mind the horrendous air quality from these fires. So now we have people complaining once again about PG&E. People, what is it that you want? Gee I’m sorry we’re all going to be inconvenienced for about 48 hours. I know, our food might spoil. We might not have, gasp, the internet! Our homes might get warm in the afternoon and evenings. I could be wrong but I’m betting any of the people who lost everything would gladly take this inconvenience over what they’ve dealt with. What an embarrassing and entitled society we live in. So sad. Two words. GROW UP!

Martin October 9, 2019 - 7:35 AM - 7:35 AM

@Chico. I’m basically with you, except I don’t believe it has been shown that PG&E’s lines had anything to do with the fires. IMHO Californians merely jumped at an opportunity to stick it to a big business — never pausing to think that they were actually sticking it to themselves.

WC Resident October 8, 2019 - 9:41 PM - 9:41 PM

$420 million was spent from 2010 to 2013 to add the fourth bore but zero was spend on batteries and/or generators to keep the tunnels running in the event of a major power outage? We already knew the power can be out for days if there is a major earthquake.

Silva October 10, 2019 - 8:44 PM - 8:44 PM

This bit of information is astonishing.

Mary Fouts October 8, 2019 - 10:35 PM - 10:35 PM

We are well prepared in south PH. Chest freezer is packed and temp turned down to -10 or below. Lots of ice. Baked 4 loaves of sourdough sandwich loaf bread today. Plenty of skillet ready dishes in the ready. Including 3 sourdough pizza doughs in fridge.

We did some research on new whole house generators. They have greatly improved. Run off natural gas, about the size of an ac unit. Prob $10,000 for purchase and installation at our home for a whole house generator. We are going to see how this outage pans out. But if this appears frequent, we will make the investment. Heck, a nice Christmas present for all of us.

Kentucky Derby October 8, 2019 - 10:46 PM - 10:46 PM

Sometimes you just have to deal with it. It’s hard, but these things happen.

Aunt Barbara October 8, 2019 - 11:20 PM - 11:20 PM

Out of boredom there will be a baby boom. No power = no internet porn available
mark my words and your calendars

Dawg October 9, 2019 - 8:32 AM - 8:32 AM

That’s funny, I was thinking the same thing yesterday.

Optimist October 8, 2019 - 11:42 PM - 11:42 PM

This could be a usefull learning opportunity for most people. We usually are not as prepared as we should be. If you have a family or even if you live alone, then this would be a good time to test out those emergency drills we are all ecouraged to have in place in case of an emergency. This ŕeally is a minor inconvenience compared to the worst case scenario and I rather they attempt something than nothing.

Ranchgirl October 9, 2019 - 7:05 AM - 7:05 AM

Weird, when I enter my home address it tells me we’re not inside a flagged zone at this time. When I enter my work address, which on the maps appears to be in an affected zone, it tells me no matches. It would really piss me off to drive in and find I can’t work and have to turn around and go home.

Gittyup October 9, 2019 - 10:08 PM - 10:08 PM

That doesn’t look like a power grid to me. It looks more like a splotchy STD infection.
