A member of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors had a pacemaker installed to help an irregular heartbeat and is recovering at home, her office announced.
Board chair Diane Burgis, who has been living with a congenital heart defect and had a successful valve replacement surgery in 2019, “will need to take it easy for a few weeks during recovery” but does not plan to “skip a beat in fulfilling the duties of her office,” the supervisor’s staff said in a news release.
She represents District 3 on the Board of Supervisors, the largest of the county’s five districts. It includes Antioch, Brentwood, Bethel Island, Byron, Discovery Bay, Knightsen and Oakley, as well as Blackhawk, Diablo and Tassajara Valley.

I absolutely do not agree with her politics.. I find them revolting. As a person made in the image of God, I do pray for a speedy recovery and that her health is restored.
Best of luck to her. Those new models can include a defibrillator and non-volatile memory. to record heart rhythm data. My late father had one. He said when the defibrillator activated it was like a punch in the chest. I’m sure it prolonged his life by 10 years. Great technology.
Pacemaker at 47? Let this be a message to you all to take your diet and fitness extremely seriously.
It states that her condition is “congenital”. Look it up!!!
(I have lived over 80 years with AFib, and am thankful the Pacemaker option is available should I ever need it. The “Watchman” procedure is frequently performed first and with luck will obviate the need for a Pacemaker.)
