Concord Police Special Enforcement Team (SET) officers made more arrests this week.

The following is from the Concord Police Department:

The first occurred when police conducted a traffic stop of a car for vehicle code violations.

The driver had recently been arrested several times for drug sales. During the investigation, officers developed probable cause to conduct a search of the vehicle. During the search, officers found a significant amount of methamphetamine and money. The subject was arrested for narcotic sales offenses.

And then, the next day, members of the SET contacted a male subject who was loitering in his vehicle in the parking lot of a local store. During the investigation, the subject was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was arrested.

During a search of the vehicle, nearly one quarter of a pound of methamphetamine was recovered. The subject also had digital scales, narcotic packaging, money, ammunition, and a firearm that had been stolen in a recent residential burglary in our city. The suspect was ultimately arrested and booked into County Jail for narcotic sales and firearm related offenses.

I think that’s a vintage Colt Army .22 with Mother of Pearl grips. Good to know the owner should get it back.

Looks like one of those investment cast 22lr that they sold in the Simons hardware catalog for $19.95 in the late 60’s and early 70’s. I have one my uncle left me, total pile of junk and lucky if it shoots.

Made in the late 50’s and 60’s. Liberty was a manufacturer that build cheap and (no offense)crappy firearms. They were built in Germany for catalogue importers and are worth anywhere from $10.00USD to $45.00USD,

The fact that you think meth sales are only a problem in poor areas or that only poor people use meth shows you don’t know too much about anything. Meth is used by all socioeconomic classes. Meth is sold and used in Pleasant Hill, Concord, Moraga, Orinda, and yes, Oakland and Richmond etc… There’s no borders for addiction.

It looks like criminals are trying to get around the gun laws with antique guns. The other day a picture of a drug bust was posted with an old antique gun, and now this one. Antique guns, and/or replicas of antique guns, are exempt from most federal and state gun laws. Anybody, including convicted felons, can own, possess, and carry a concealed antique firearm that was made before 1899, or a replica of one.

… are you sure about the replica of one?

I’m sure, as long as it’s a replica of a gun made before 1899. In the law, antique guns and replicas are collectables, and are not considered firearms.

Criminals are idiots, you’re giving them way more credit than they deserve. Good luck with that line of argument, tell it to your PO and see where that gets you? In this pic, the ammo is modern (that will get a felon sent back) and if this gun was from 1877-1899, that modern ammo would blow-up the gun, soooo.

After reading this I was most annoyed by this line “The driver had recently been arrested several times for drug sales.”
So this drug dealer is still out there after several arrests?
