Since the demise of CC Ole’s, I now choose El Tapatio on golf Club Rd in Pleasant Hill. Good food, and lots of it. Their Sunday brunch buffet is to die for.

That place is good and always easy going. We’ve been going to La Tapatia on Willow Pass across from Park n Shop. Excellent chips and salsa and the chili Colorado is awesome. Also like La Mordida.

I agree they are all uninteresting around here. It is very rare to find good Mexican food north of the Los Angeles area. Even in Salinas the drive up window at Taco Bell wraps around the block. Yuck.

Los Panchos is awesome.
El Molino best tortillas in Country.
Mecca best bean dip.

looking for a good one. used to go to the one by las montanas grocery in that place on Monument (I am so good at remembering names, can’t you tell?). Used to eat there regularly, then they shut down and reopened with different quality. Since then, have not found anything we really like. I am not looking for “authentic,” just a tasty beef burrito.

Los Tacos de Pancho is the bomb. Not much of a sit down restaurant, but great for take out. Back in the day El Pappagallo was the best dine in Mexican food.

El Papagallo??? The original, on Clayton Rd in Concord, or the newer one in Walnut Creek, after the one in Concord had a fire? We must be old to remember these places.

Lol I will never go to Los Pancho’s again all the staff even the owner freaked out on me because I went in there with no mask when the COVID first began except for one young girl who kindly offered me one. Their foods nothing special same with the salsa.

I agree with juryisout on that they pretty much taste the same with an occasional exception. That being said, Tauqueria Autlan on Clayton road, I used them twice for catering, owner is the nicest guy and went out of his way to help me feed 150 people. And for that , he has a loyal customer .

El Agulia on Contra Costa Blvd is excellent! They use very high quality meats and always fresh! I like everything on the menu but lately I’ve been getting 6 tacos, 2 asada, 2 tinga and 2 pork with 2 sides of guacamole. Their food can be spicy though so keep that in mind for the weaklings of heat. 😀

I had several…..Loved the New Mecca but it’s lost a bit of somthin somthin since Bill died. Always like La Pinata (great margaritas) and La Tapatia in Martinez. Always have a fond spot for Los Ponchos, but my go to of all time was El Faro. Best shrimp burrito anywhere.
Sadly now I live in a land of bland super gingo Mexican food…..Taco Bell is better than most of the restaurants. The only one that is really good is a little take-out place called Rivas. Reminds me of El Faro and Los Ponchos Good food and it isn’t bland, it actually has flavor

Los Panchos is my go to Mexican Restaurant.
Have been a very regular patron through 3 of their different locations. They are now not as good as it used to be.
