Lowest new cases in awhile

Concordjete July 12, 2020 - 12:58 PM - 12:58 PM

Nice to see a double digit numbers of cases.
Hopefully we can get down to the single digit number of cases but, we are not going to see that for a long time.
Hopefully not a miscalculation

I would like to know how those who have tested positive to the virus are related to the nursing home outbreaks. Are they family, caregivers, utilit workers, distributors, hospital workers, neighbors of the facilities. Is there a link and what is it?

Bill Bob July 12, 2020 - 2:30 PM - 2:30 PM

Wonder if the heat is keeping folks from getting tested who otherwise would.

Miscounted July 12, 2020 - 2:35 PM - 2:35 PM

Yesterday’s total count was 4605 cases today’s total count is 4661,
How’s that come out 39 new cases?? , shouldn’t be 56 new cases?

Ms Clay July 12, 2020 - 3:01 PM - 3:01 PM

It shows 56 on the Worldometer site.

Each day the County adjusts prior day numbers to correct for late reporting. The scoreboard is a snapshot of the official database which is always changing. The total number is correct but prior days were increased also.

WC Resident July 12, 2020 - 6:03 PM - 6:03 PM

@Miscounted – Yesterday the county reported 143 new cases. Apparently some test results arrived past yesterday’s reporting deadline because today the 143 was revised to 160. That’s 17 more cases. Combine that with the 39 new cases for today results in the total cases increasing by 56.

39 new cases today is unusually low and likely means the testing labs are backlogged and unable to get the test results back by the reporting deadline. I suspect tomorrow’s release of the data will include an additional 100 or more cases that should have been reported today.

Buck July 12, 2020 - 3:45 PM - 3:45 PM

I wonder what the lag is between testing and results. It would be interesting to know how many tests were conducted on the day that led to these results.

Lea July 12, 2020 - 6:36 PM - 6:36 PM

How come the previous day’s total cases plus the current day’s new cases is almost always not equivalent to the current day’s total cases?

Jeffers July 12, 2020 - 8:25 PM - 8:25 PM

So what’s the story? How are people catching it? Parties?

Xennial July 13, 2020 - 2:22 AM - 2:22 AM

Good question, although one that is probably very difficult to answer.

Kauai Mike July 13, 2020 - 8:38 AM - 8:38 AM

I’m witnessing irresponsible behavior everywhere.
It’s more than incorrect or no mask wearing in public.
Young people are whooping it up with pent up fervor and ‘invincibility’, but causing new waves of infection for all of us.
Somehow, both sides of the mask debate need to find common ground or we all lose.
