Contra Costa Health Services Encourages You To Vote By Mail On Or Before Nov.3

by CLAYCORD.com

Contra Costa County is encouraging everyone to vote by mail this election due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Voting by mail is the safest voting option as it limits contact with others outside of a voter’s household, health officials said.

To ensure you receive a ballot in the mail, confirm you’re registered to vote before the statewide October 19 deadline: https://registertovote.ca.gov/.

To vote by mail, voters can fill out their ballots and return them by mail or deliver them to one of 37 outdoor ballot drop-boxes across the county. Voters can find a list of drop-box locations here. Ballots must be dropped off no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day or postmarked by November 3. The County is allowing 17 additional days for ballots to arrive if they are postmarked by Election Day.

Those who choose to vote in person will be required to practice social distancing and wear face coverings. If voters don’t have PPE available, the County will provide it. All Elections staff and volunteers will be required to wear masks.

I bet they do, I will exercise my right to vote as I see fit not according to a rec from people that could care less about me.

Puffandstuff October 15, 2020 - 8:45 AM - 8:45 AM

Agreed @ bdml

If I can shop at Walmart I can go in person to vote
It’s my body my choice

Jessica October 15, 2020 - 9:31 AM - 9:31 AM

@bdml That is a weird comment that doesn’t apply to the post at all. It recommends voting by mail and gives you recommendations for voting in person. Calm down and stop being pugnacious.

@Puffandstuff Glad to see that you are pro-choice. I will see you at the next women’s rights rally, I’m sure.

bdml October 15, 2020 - 9:59 AM - 9:59 AM

I will be as pugnacious as I please and yes my comment is valid to the situation but thank you for dismissing me and my opinion, so accepting of you…

ZZ October 15, 2020 - 10:06 AM - 10:06 AM

@jessica Looking through this thread pugnacious is what you’re being. You’re a typical liberal, a hypocrite.

Dorothy October 15, 2020 - 11:06 AM - 11:06 AM

Anything to do with voting or politics these days seem to bring out the pugnacious in a lot of us, right, left, and down the middle. It’s also called free speech sometimes.

Puffandstuff October 15, 2020 - 11:12 AM - 11:12 AM

@ Jessica
Lol you won’t find me at any rally … sorry. Why are you so angry? Take a chill pill and let people voice their opinions
Life is short and you can’t control anyone or anything but yourself

Eastbay Babe October 15, 2020 - 8:29 AM - 8:29 AM

I don’t trust Mail Clerks I rather go in person to vote.

Martinezmike October 15, 2020 - 9:24 AM - 9:24 AM

That is so sexist. I suppose you only trust femail clerks.

Jessica October 15, 2020 - 9:33 AM - 9:33 AM

@Eastbay Babe And why do you trust volunteer poll workers more? Any of them, at any time in the process, can lose a chunk of those ballots if they want. I had one one year when I was younger and didn’t know better, accept my mail-in ballot by hand and wished me well. Conservatives are blatantly and actively organizing to work in polling places and subtly suggesting that it would “help Trump” and you’re not concerned at all about that?

bdml October 15, 2020 - 10:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Why are you all over everybody’s opinion Jessica/Karen?

anon October 15, 2020 - 10:08 AM - 10:08 AM

@ Jessica Historically most tampering has come from the left in America, not the republicans.

Rob October 15, 2020 - 8:49 AM - 8:49 AM

Yes, All Republicans regardless of age or health – remember voting by mail is a horrible idea – you must wait until election day and go in person.

Our Fearless President has proclaimed it so.

Sam October 15, 2020 - 9:24 AM - 9:24 AM

Totally agree. Democrats too. Do your patriotic duty. Be thankful you live in the greatest country in the world. Express your love of freedom by showing up and voting your principles after evaluating and understanding the options. 👍🏼🇺🇸

Cyn October 15, 2020 - 9:31 AM - 9:31 AM

@Rob
Scientists have said it’s safe to vote in person. Mask up and glove up and bring your own pen. At least that’s what our Fearless Epidemiologist has proclaimed (Dr. Fauci).

Jessica October 15, 2020 - 9:34 AM - 9:34 AM

/sarcasm…?

bdml October 15, 2020 - 9:45 AM - 9:45 AM

Thanks for reminding us of that Rob what we ever do without your wisdom and guidance?

anon October 15, 2020 - 10:07 AM - 10:07 AM

@Rob Wishing death upon your political opponents is the domain of the Democrats and the left. You have proven this to us all here.

You are no better than the rioting, violent, murderous scum in the streets of Portland – you merely encourage the fascist stormtroopers in the streets rather than join them.

The Fearless Spectator October 15, 2020 - 10:09 AM - 10:09 AM

I believe the USPS does a reasonable job given what they have to work with. Email is much more scary. The “e” in email stands for eternity, as young Mr. Biden has discovered. Computer forensics can really be quite damning.

KitKat October 15, 2020 - 9:10 AM - 9:10 AM

So, if I’m understanding this correctly…. we can’t meet in person for a lot of things, like voting and school. So, schools have had to push forward and make rapid advancements utilizing technology to continue the process of education, but voting went back to utilizing snail mail?!

chuckie the troll October 15, 2020 - 9:12 AM - 9:12 AM

How many times do they want us to vote? My guess is zero times for conservatives and ten times for liberals because they want to get that 1/2% sales tax increase passed.

You can trust our government to do the right thing with your money, said no one with money.

Chuckie’s Wife October 15, 2020 - 9:18 AM - 9:18 AM

I just completed “Where’s my Ballot”. You can sign up to receive updates about your ballot. Mine was already received and accepted. Confirmed that it will be counted (which is not a guarantee), but better than finding out that it never made it past the USPS!

Roz October 15, 2020 - 10:35 AM - 10:35 AM

We sent ours in mail at Concord main post office, and tracked it. Ours have been received and accepted too. It works.

Dorothy October 15, 2020 - 11:02 AM - 11:02 AM

Took mine and my g-kid’s ballot to Martinez. Where’s My Ballot has said both received and accepted. That it will be counted but not when.

I remember last year asking when the drop off ballot would be counted and was told when it was received. With so many dropped off or mailed in ballots this year I hope they start counting sooner rather then later.

Vindex October 15, 2020 - 9:23 AM - 9:23 AM

How is this in the purview of the CCHS? Stay in your lane!

RANDOM TASK October 15, 2020 - 9:26 AM - 9:26 AM

ugh rob please explain how the potus has wronged you and your family
how has he made your life trash so much that you have to passive aggressive denounce things that have nothing to do with him as voting is the right of every citizen …and yes this being a free county for at least right now …people can vote how they like with out reprisal.

now if you would like to explain how the dem politicians went all commando on the potus wasting millions of tax dollars and time …YOUR TIME AND MONEY with no results and even a fake mueller probe designed to again dig dirt from a porcelain bowl

i am sure we would love your insight on how you obviously love and back democrats after 4 years of nothing but a political fit and melt down

wasting that time and money and now begging and saying they have no money to help americans and need to raise and create and extend more taxes

now there is this thing called history …the dems and their radicals are tearing it down and denouncing it yes …why
because history of this country is the people were fed up with taxation without representation ….to dumb it down …they were taxing for nothing other than taxing you and doing nothing to better your lives

so the people had to fight for their right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness …..

and yes those times were way different and we know that by looking at the history
but the constitution that you live under right now was etched by those founding fathers
yet you are showing your distain and pursuit to allow the rest of us to be ruled and taken over by political means to take away all that was built and fought for by people way ….way more patriotic and smarter than any dem voter or politician is acting right now

its we the people …..

not we the democrats

step out and feel and be american for america …..and support the constitution and bill of rights of all the people

thats how we all win
not just a few political gangsters holding a bean bag to your head

Skyscraper October 15, 2020 - 9:26 AM - 9:26 AM

I have been told by a friend who will be working a poll this year that you can drop off your completed mail-in ballot to a poll working on election day. This action maintains the “chain of custody” and your ballot won’t get lost. This is what I plan to do as I don’t trust dropping my sacred ballot in a postal slot.

T-Rex October 15, 2020 - 10:19 AM - 10:19 AM

You can mail it and sign up on where’s my ballot. It will tell you when they get it and accept it meaning they will count your vote. They received mine in two days. If it’s lost or doesn’t make it you can request a new one and they will void out the old one. Just an option. And it gives the postal service something to do.

anon October 15, 2020 - 10:04 AM - 10:04 AM

DO NOT VOTE BY MAIL.

Why add another middle man? Why add another layer of obfuscation, another layer of potential corruption? The potential for abuse is enormous. A liberal mailman could destroy mail in votes when serving a majority conservative community, or the opposite.

Just gear up and vote in person. If you don’t have a real respirator at this point in the pandemic then you need help.

JG27AD October 15, 2020 - 10:05 AM - 10:05 AM

Will cheerfully go to the polling place on Election Day, thank you.
This is our opportunity to start getting our state squared away!

The Wizard October 15, 2020 - 10:19 AM - 10:19 AM

I will vote as I please and that will be in person. Keep you nose out of my business.

Stove October 15, 2020 - 10:34 AM - 10:34 AM

I exercise my right to vote by not registering!

POTUS October 15, 2020 - 10:37 AM - 10:37 AM

I vote by mail as does my whole family, what’s the problem?

redrazor October 15, 2020 - 11:19 AM - 11:19 AM

I definitely won’t put my ballot in my mail box. With all the conservative mail and gun magazines, Trump/Republican items etc I get every day; a mailcarier with differing/hateful leanings could/would easily happen to loose my Ballot Envelope.(?!?) What think you all?

The Wizard October 15, 2020 - 11:34 AM - 11:34 AM

I worry about the same thing with all the Biden/Democrat’s mail I get. Lots of hate of Conservative values in California. Its funny people don’t worry putting a Biden sign on their lawn. But god forbid put a Trump one out front you might get a brick threw your window.

Aunt Barbara October 15, 2020 - 12:18 PM - 12:18 PM

I AGREE WIZARD.

LL Cool J October 15, 2020 - 11:31 AM - 11:31 AM

Of coursed they do!
Dems want votes in before all of the news that is breaking about Biden, his son, HRC and Obama get out to the public and they think, “Wait a minute. What has been going on here?”
Well, the news has broken but the mainstream news is suppressing it and FB,Twit, and YouTube and purging accounts like crazy to keep the general, asleep public who only watch CNN, etc from seeing it and possibly WAKE UP and start thinking for themselves. People will be shocked when they see what these people did.
There is no way they would vote for a Dem after this…

Mr. Pink October 15, 2020 - 11:48 AM - 11:48 AM

“ON” or before? If you’re voting by mailed you’d better do it well before Nov 3.

FPN October 15, 2020 - 1:21 PM - 1:21 PM

I feel patriotic when I vote in person. This will only be my second time voting Republican. I have forty years of reckless voting to make up for.

Tugboat October 15, 2020 - 1:36 PM - 1:36 PM

No thanks, if I can go to the grocery store or gas station I will go to the polling place and vote as we all should.

T-Rex October 15, 2020 - 1:58 PM - 1:58 PM

No on Measure X. That’s the reason they want you to vote.

mayflower October 15, 2020 - 2:26 PM - 2:26 PM

I am so glad to see most of the comments indicate they are going in person to vote. Maybe there is a lot more hope for California than we think.

Amy October 15, 2020 - 5:58 PM - 5:58 PM

I will be voting in person at my polling place. I will get my “I Voted” sticker! I hope I don’t have to walk through any demonstrators.

Dr. Jellyfinger October 15, 2020 - 9:13 PM - 9:13 PM

The “I Voted” sticker was included with the ballot this year.

Mary Fouts October 15, 2020 - 9:14 PM - 9:14 PM

@Amy .. Um .. the mail in ballot comes with a honking big “I voted” sticker. Much larger sticker and better adhesive than the peel off stickers at the voting stationd.

Since the sticker seems to be the carrot for you to vote, vote by mail! Way bigger sticker.
