Heather Farm Park’s 30,000-square-foot all-abilities playground in Walnut Creek will be closed for two weeks starting today for preventative maintenance, city officials said.
The playground area will have temporary fencing installed and the city will not allow picnic rentals during the closure.
The park is expected to reopen on March 5 following the maintenance work.

…. yeah, because doing maintenance whilst the playgrounds were closed for a year makes waaaaay too much sense 🙄

When are they going to fix Ygnacio Valley Park on Oak Grove road? The two main slides have plywood blocking the kids from using them, but the kids just climb up and could fall off. It’s been like that for weeks.
For those of you who are questioning what kind of maintenance, you clearly don’t visit this park. The fake grass hills that the kids slide down on cardboard needs patching and several of the slides need to be repaired and the sun shades are ripped. This park is sorta amazing and I would say it’s easily one of the top parks in Contra Costa. Even when the weather is bad the park has been packed.
I wish Concord had an equivalent playground. I suspect they won’t be working on the park everyday for 2 weeks but it has a decent amount of equipment…in any case glad to see them giving it some love before the summer rush.
