Congressman DeSaulnier voted in favor of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act on Friday.

The bill passed in the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 219-to-212.

It now moves to the U.S. Senate for consideration.

“Since the start of this pandemic, my office has heard from thousands of Contra Costa families struggling to make rent, pay their bills, support their children through virtual learning, or keep their small business. This much-needed relief would extend a lifeline to these families and our communities,” said Congressman DeSaulnier. “After months of roadblocks from the Trump Administration, it is a new day with the Biden Administration working with us to get the country on the path to recovery and to emerge even stronger,” DeSaulnier said.

congressman, exactly where is the money this bill spends coming from ? ? ?

Dollar amount of automatic cuts will be caused next year by this bill ?

Did you bother to read and understand the whole Act before voting on it? Let’s hear you talk about all the “pork” that is buried within it.

Fred February 27, 2021 - 1:19 PM - 1:19 PM

Nothing said about the amount of pork in it .

Randy February 27, 2021 - 1:22 PM - 1:22 PM

…. waaaaay too much pork in it…. future generations will be paying for this and wondering “what were we thinking
?!”

I don’t believe Mark even read the bill………how he describes it and what it is is totally out of line. It’s like his old restaurant advertising sirloin steak and serving SPAM. What a joke!

The Fearless Spectator February 27, 2021 - 1:32 PM - 1:32 PM

Unbelievable.

They put together a package that pays all their cronies and bails out poorly run states, subsidizes other nations, and there is a little something in it at the back for US citizens. It’s a crappy package and he blames Trump for the road blocks. Further, I doubt he has heard from anyone let alone thousands of Contra Costa citizens. CC is one of the wealthiest counties in the nation.

What a bunch of B.S. this guy could have a career in politics…….

Old Timer February 27, 2021 - 1:47 PM - 1:47 PM

Come on you useless piece of crap Mark.President Trump wanted it passed a long time ago.You Democratic’s were against it.You have been getting your salary all along that you don’t deserve. And you aren’t giving us something we have already paid for through high taxes.

Antonius February 27, 2021 - 1:58 PM - 1:58 PM

9% for COVID, the rest is all pork. I’m sure the 100 Million dollars for BART to dig a big hole to San Jose will kill a lot of the COVID virus. !🙄

Hill February 27, 2021 - 2:15 PM - 2:15 PM

Only 9% of that is going to help what he describes. ONLY 9%. Does that sound like a bill that was set up to help people who are effectived by the pandemic, or does it sound more like an excuse to pass it through and get what they want.

When I read about this this morning I was livid. I immediately sent an email to this man who represents us. I hope all who feel that this bill was not right and totally lopsided will do the same. He needs to be held accountable. The amount of time they took to make a decision and then to come up with 91 percent of our money in taxes to fund unnecessary items at this crisis time is ridiculous. He went along with the crowd..When good men say nothing..evil reignspeak up and let your voice be heard to the man who voted for this and did not take care of his own.

This is just the beginning my friends. Wait until hyperinflation kicks in. Interest rates and unemployment will rise and many will lose their homes again. The Fortune 500 companies will continue with record profits as small businesses will suffer in greater numbers. Community Colleges will be free and immigration will remain broken. The virtue signaling has begun and free speech will end.

Meanwhile us regular folk are losing our businesses, homes and livelihood. Families are struggling to put food on the table. There are more homeless camps popping up everywhere by the day. The list goes on and on.

Would the congressman care to explain, $140 million reported to be in the bill for underground rail line connecting San Francisco area to Silicon Valley???

Is it a pay off for union campaign contributions and a project that will balloon in cost into billions ?

In this new era of working from home, why is it needed ?

Passed house vote with ZERO republican votes.

John February 28, 2021 - 5:22 AM - 5:22 AM

Where is the underground rail line in the bill? By the way, the bill explicitly says it includes infrastructure support. Amtrak gets funding as do other railroad services.

Original G February 28, 2021 - 6:26 PM - 6:26 PM

Devin Nunes mistakenly called bart extension to San Jose, a tunnel.

Give drop in bart usage and Bay Area’ Metropolitan Transportation Commission voting last September, 12 to 1, to mandate large employers must have 60 percent or more of their employees telecommute on any given work day.

In talking with person who works at bart, system seems to be routinely and increasingly transporting less than savory segments of society. Why spend money to expand a system, that going forward will be under utilized ?

Hardball dirty politics put them in power — so now it will be tougher to dig up the truth, including the specifics behind the Russia Hoax. But here’s the latest from Real Clear Investigations:

Ask the New York D.A. that now has DJT tax records ( finally) and how it will probably lay out the years and or decades of money laundering and bait and switch tactics the Trumps have been up hiding.
Be careful of what you wish for .
🇺🇸

Anew March 1, 2021 - 7:36 AM - 7:36 AM

@Old Concordite. The swamp will continue to try to crush Trump. Meanwhile, Biden has signed rogue, quasi-legal Executive Orders, and Nancy Pelosi is pushing bills that would turn the U.S. into a Marxist snake pit and rig the laws so that only Democrats win most elections.

HR1 “the For the People Act” aims to crush free speech.

And in California we pair cronyism with edicts from self-righteous, radical, and often, unelected officials. They have destroyed many small businesses and our schools are still shut down. In contrast, Florida businesses and schools are open, and their governor Ron DeSantis has proved that common sense works far better than blindly following the ‘science’.

Our county is at a pivot point: the choice is between a thriving free society, or Marxism and a land of broken dreams.

Hey Congressman (oh…that’s right…gotta be politically correct here so do I need to call you “Congressperson”? Nah…) –

Here’s an “American Rescue Plan Act” that would actually make things better:
1. Resign and take Pelosi, Schumer, and most of the other Dems with you
2. Remove barriers to American citizens enjoying their 1A, 2A and other rights
3. Reduce taxes dramatically
4. Encourage the population to actually take responsibilty for their own actions and not look to blame others for everything they perceive has gone wrong in their life

Highway Veteran February 28, 2021 - 3:48 PM - 3:48 PM

The American Rescue Plan Act is an omnibus bill that includes funding for non essential agenda items. The 117th congress has gone too far to the left. They do not represent their constituents because votes, power, and politics are more important than our country and citizens who pay their salaries.

If you don’t believe this then read the bill to find out about the agenda items and funding:
